Alpha Lambda Delta honor society

Alpha Lambda Delta is an honor society that is open to first year students who do well, like being on the Dean's list.
If you're invited or have been invited to join in the past, did you and why?
Is it worth it, more than being a filler for a resume?

If you are going to grad school, it's a good resume filler. Also, there are women in that group. It's a good way to meet good women.

I joined Phi Eta Sigma which is similar. Pretty much a waste of time/money. Maybe things are different at your school.

I joined everything like this I got invited to. Very few are more involved than filling out an application and attending a ceremony, but it provides lines on the CV. I say worth it.

95% of the time, employers skip over the "groups and societies" section on the resume.

Depends on your chapter but it was a resume filler for me.
In my case, I joined as basically an affirmation that I was kicking arse and taking names in college. Given my HS experience, that was a bit of a change.

Not really, unless you join an honor society that is associated with your field of study.
For ALD, I just went to a ceremony, got a pin and a piece of paper, and maybe did one or two events with them. Like others have said, it's a resume filler.

Yep, I was in 4 or 5. They're good for internships and whatnot and cost like $50 to join and a one page application.

$50 to have no risk and possibly help you get a better job? Seems like a good investment to me.

Any kind of honor society is good to be a part of. Looks good on a resume and it’s an opportunity to network with potentially resourceful people.
