I agree, but you live and learn. That's the good thing about being young. You have a lot of time and options to correct piss poor decisions.

If you can't find a job with a finance degree, you're doing it wrong.

Not always. If your left with join the military or ruin your credit, you have 1 option to correct that decision.

Why didn't he just go to work and start paying the loans?

No.

Obviously, which is why the students should still pay back their loans if they've taken them out. We received the same "goods", why should I be penalized because I paid in cash? How can you expect your loans to be forgiven, yet still use the degree that your "forgiven" loans purchased?

There is a flaw in the system for sure, but going back and forgiving loans isn't going to fix it.

when I went to LSU it was so cheap I could pay as I went. Too bad it's not that way anymore.

Same here. Some of those enlisted jobs on the Air Force and Navy sites are a pretty job deal. It basically becomes paid job training. Most of those skills are very attractive in the civilian world.

2) why would I ask tax payers to pay off a loan that I took out? It's my responsibility.

Just when I'm giving up hope for younger generation, I see a spark of brilliance from time to time pop up that gives me hope. Have an upvote sir.

You act as if this hasn't already happened to you as a taxpayer in other circumstances.

I could be wrong but I haven't seen a single person in this thread say they think these kids should have have their loans forgiven.

Do you really have $50,000 in student loans?

Add rent, books, food, utilities, misc costs and you're talking about $10,000 a semester.

That is just cost of living, you would pay all that, outside of books, regardless if you were in school.

Here lies another problem, there is no auditing how those loans were actually spent. Most ppl I know that took out undergrad loans used at least part of it for living expenses.

Student debt is a major drag on the economy. I'm not advocating "free school" for anyone but we should figure something out just for the overall health of our country.

No this is the OT where all of the people pay their bills on time, didn't take out a loan, received more from scholarships than they needed, make 6 figures, bang 10's, run sub 4.5 40's, can hit 80 pitches off a MLB pitcher, etc....
