you're not going to see me asking for regulations of those markets, either

Instead, we're saying that student loans should be held to the same "standards" that any other loan is required to meet from an underwriting standpoint.

well they're different b/c

1. there isn't collateral
2. they're backed by the government and aren't dischargable in bankruptcy
3. it would be very racist if market forces applied

what kind of school did you go to?

what kind of options did you have, namely local public choices?

what tuition were you paying ?

Sorry if the concept of personal responsibility is "dumb" to you. Perhaps when you stop shitting yellow, your balls drop, and you finally grow up you'll realize how much of a stupid little shite you are right now. I had to learn that lesson years ago. You will too one day.

as for myself it cost me roughly 65k to complete my BSEE @ University of Texas @ Tyler. Luckily I had a job offer before I walked across the stage due to my grades and work resume as I worked Full Time throughout school in retail.

People have obviously pointed out, Student Loan debt has made me put off starting any family since graduation and as I turn to my 30's still paying on my loan, it takes a significant portion out of my income that would go towards trying to capture a home in a house market going nuts atm in DFW, and or starting a family.

Less smart people are producing, more dumb ones are. Eventually the smart folks will dwindle till we have a majority of the population resemble the foolishness on the Political Talk Board.

The biggest issues which will prevent any meaningful changes from occurring prior to a full scale bust.

This went like I thought it would. A bunch of high and mighty 40-50 year old dudes talking down to younger generations even though they were paying far far less than current generations, in a much better job market.

I'm only 28, I paid for my undergraduate education with scholarships and some cash. I paid for my graduate education with cash, I'm almost done paying for my wife's professional schooling with cash.

If there is a bailout/loan forgiveness am I going to receive a refund for all of the tuition that I've paid in cash?

I went to middle Tennessee state for all of the reasons why one would go to middle Tennessee state

I had scholarships that covered tuition plus paid me back a small amount. I upheld those all through college. The loans were mainly for housing and a little bit to live on, because I interned most summers and didn't make any money. By the time I graduated, 4.5 years later, tuition was up significantly compared to my freshman year.

I want to say MTSU was about 7k per year by the time I finished, but I could be wrong. It's been a while.

My son graduated college with 40k in student loan debt. You know what he did? He made a grown man decision and joined the military.

Hmm responsibility, moved out at 18 and paid for everything. I have a 401k ,IRA, stock plan , and multiple life insurance policies. I think im doing just fine.

In fact im trying to add "mortgage" to that list of responsibility but people like you still make decisions for our country. However, regardless our your intellectual ineptitude, I will succeed as I have so far.

Now go kick rocks.

I just got a job in finance with a history degree from LSU (1 week after graduating.) I applied to probably over 300 places before I actually received an offer that stuck. Some friends I know who bitch about loans arent treating the job search like an actual job.

Do you take any form of government assistance? Including EITC?

If so, tax payers are paying for your lifestyle. Should we be upset?

Why would it be "racist". What does race have to do with picking better majors.

Market forces control the supply of jobs, which is the inevitable goal of all college degrees. They should have a say in all of this.

Think of it this way. The more people who fail to find work, the more people will be on welfare ie other government programs which run on TAX DOLLARS so that they can have a decent living, whether any of us like it or not. That is how it works in the USA.

Ever seen the flat screens and cars owned by the poors....

Good for him, but arguably it was a dumb grown man decision. Perhaps the more astute grown man decision would have been to not take out so much in loans without a better option than joining the military.

Welcome to page 16 of the thread where this has already been said about 20 times. The discussion is now about why it's ok to hold these loans, which can be as large as a mortgage, to much lower standards when they're aimed at people whose biggest life concern to date has been who they will take to prom.

That's the answer to the student loan problem. Everyone join the military! frick that finance degree.

Good for your son, and I appreciate that sacrifice. But joining the military isn't something you should do for the money.
