You are giving them too much credit. In the last 5 yrs living around here and seeing how SWB and Paul run their bullshite, I can tell you that they would have been spiking the ball if the profile fit anything other than a repeat offender teen or early 20 black male(s).

Who has been banned lately?

Not sure it is a banned person.
If Chicken would provide an IP to someone, I have a feeling it would track to someone associated with BRPD.

Did Kiran corroborate the story with the friend?
May BRPD did/didn't.

It was indeed a tragedy, my condolences & prayers to the deceaseds' family.
The reports I read indicated the vehicle in which the deceased family was in was at fault since it changed lanes and collided with the vehicle that didn't stop.
If I'm wrong I retract that understanding, regardless the other driver should have stopped.

I know the presser said not gang related-
This is still a mystery. It is so sad. Yes, there are urban lends of gang initiations. The headlights one and certain car colors may be a myth. I lived near a rough city and I sure believed some at the time.
It never hurts to take extra caution anyway.
Just because snopes names a few as urban legends does not negate carjacking, random killings are not gang related. A detective told me they get tired of the inner initiations within.
Top 10 Brutal Methods Of Gang Initiation
I was thinking out of the box a bit, regarding Ali's death being gang related. The above article was in 2020. There was that freaky case of the woman found naked down a ravine with her abdomen burned.
MS-13 and cartel gangs don't play, and are probably dominating the regular hood gangs to do as they do and even become mules/hardliners?
The open border with the hardcore gangs and countries emptying their prisons flowing in. Could have changed the rank & file/brutality rate of the typical hood gangs?

You are correct, I read hit & run headline & assumed it was the fault of the driver that left the scene
On a more positive note
He is the one that had the 115k bond on a murder charge & was wanted for attempted murder

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department has arrested a wanted fugitive.
Detectives said Luke Simmons, 39, is now in custody.
He was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Investigators said Simmons is suspected in a shooting on N. 19th Street on Aug. 25 that injured one person. They added the victim’s injuries did not appear life-threatening.

According to online records, Judge Eboni Johnson Rose granted Simmons a $115,000 bond in his 2021 murder arrest. In February 2022, just two months after his arrest, Simmons managed to post bail and was back on the street.
His criminal history outlines a list of other violent offenses, including a first-degree murder charge in 2006 and domestic abuse battery in 2019.
WAFB tried to reach Judge Rose to find out why that amount was set, and why he was allowed to get out.

Judges should face consequences when their rulings result in recidivism.

Wish I was smart enough to know how to find what happened with 2006 charge
1st degree murder in 2006
2nd degree murder Dec 2021, given 115k bond, got our Feb 22
Was wanted for Attempted 2nd degree murder in August
Plus all the other not murder charges
Judges 100% should be held accountable

Charge =\= conviction. 1st or 2nd degree murder conviction in LA is a mandatory life sentence.

Yeah, at first I was thinking that maybe they didn't want to say anything for whatever reason, but the press conference the other day and other information pretty much told me they are in over their head. I wish there was information available that showed how much manpower they have right now compared to 5 years ag.
There were a lot of cops who quit under MP right? Then in the press conference he admitted there are 8 gangs in BR (after saying earlier in the year there were either no gangs or they were not aware of any). Then he mentioned what they will do to fight gang violence.
IMO the reason he brought up the details about the gangs was to try to take attention off of this shooting.
I honestly believe they don't have the man power and are not able to hire people to replace all the people who quit.
SWB is the reason crime is so high. She appoints the chief so the mayor is ultimately responsible, but in her case, she is also telling MP what to do. Its pretty obvious she doesn't want anyone digging too deep into the police department, but if things continue to go as they are, she is going to severely frick up.

Accused murderer couldn't afford bond supervision, new judge removes restrictions
BATON ROUGE - A brand new judge, who prided herself on giving suspects second chances in her online campaign videos last year, unleashed an accused murderer without any monitoring requirements in July, the WBRZ Investigative Unit uncovered.
It wasn't a problem for Judge Eboni Johnson Rose until suspect Billy Pettice held a gun to his girlfriend's head and tried to choke her on Nov. 11, 2021. Investigators said he took things a step further on Saturday and shot out the windows of her car as two children were inside.
Pettice is back in custody and is now being held without bond.
The WBRZ Investigative Unit began looking into the situation after learning Pettice had somehow managed to avoid any sort of supervision or ankle monitoring before Saturday's arrest while awaiting a murder trial.
Court records show Pettice posted a $175,000 bond after he was charged in the murder of his then-girlfriend Dedawn Bush in 2018. In July, emails obtained by the WBRZ Investigative Unit show Pettice could not afford his bond supervision, so Judge Rose relieved him of his monitor and supervision.
WBRZ Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto reached out to Judge Rose about what she did but did not get a return phone call.
For years, the WBRZ Investigative Unit has been documenting problematic situations where offenders are out on multiple bonds or low bonds and continue to re-offend.
This situation has the attention of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association. Executive Director Loren Lampert said this is a statewide issue where judges need the most information possible before a bond is set.
"It's a real problem," Lampert said. "This is going to sound quippish, but it's not a problem until it's a problem. When it's a problem, it's a real problem."
In Pettice's case, his rap sheet was a good indicator of the trouble he's caused in the past. Multiple arrests dating back more than a decade for murder, armed robbery, burglary and theft.
"You want a risk assessment that can protect the public," Lampert said. "Absconding is one thing, but when there is a substantial risk of more perpetration of crimes, we want the courts to err on the side of caution."
Pettice had a court hearing Tuesday. He is currently being held without bond.
WBRZ reached out to his lawyer but did not hear back.
