It’s amazing that these journalistic Institutions have been around this long and still have such low levels of good will with the public. People feel betrayed by journalism, and lump them all into one pile, even if/when they don’t deserve it. A generation ago it was seen as a noble endeavor and nearly universally respected. Now, these papers and magazines close and it makes people smile.

You have to understand that this is how a takeover works. There has to be a clean slate. Some of the Times-Picayune employees are being given an opportunity to work at the Advocate. Not everyone will be given that opportunity..Simply because some of the jobs are already filled by current Advocate employees.

I stopped clicking on Jarvis articles because it was click bait. All of it. He’s the most racist person I’ve seen in the media

The advocate should do an article on this.

Of course nobody here broke that story. Nobody gives a shite about a recycling plant having to drive further. Maybe if you wrote about some things that actually matter you would still have a job Drew

And those people are probably mostly former Times Picayune employees who were fired from there over the last few years.

I hope both them and the Advocate fold. Tigerdroppings gets news quicker and without the bias

Good grief. That statement is a complete and utter joke.

The advocate was one of the only papers in America that was doing good when the new Orleans people took it over.

The first thing that they did was fire editors and replace them with new Orleans people.

I knew right then that the advocate was doomed. The times pacayune had ru in bed their own paper and were determined to ruin the advocate too.

I stopped reading it and my reading the Sunday paper became a thing of the past.

Actually, I think both groups were technically "laid off", but it's not a good feeling either way.

How many weeks acquisition did they receive? Hopefully it’s enough to support their families while they search new jobs.

They will still be employed for 60 days. There is a severance package that they will get for up to 6 months depending on length of service. There is also a pension for the employees that have been there longer.

Question about Jarvis because I’ve never read his work. Is he a good writer that race baits, or is he race baiter that writes?
