No they didn't. Just because they paid does not mean they paid correctly or what you deserved. And you had to pay a lawyer, which should not have had to happen I assume if it was Katrina.
Allstate doesn't lose.

These are nationwide companies so just like healthcare you are paying for the claims of others.
There should be a market for more local insurance especially in areas where claims tend to be lower.

USAA tried raping me when I got a quote.
How long ago? I'd call again.
Getting a quote is free. Doesn't hurt to call around. USAA normally can get you a good monthly note but it just means you're going to have a higher % deductible. Or a lower % deductible and higher note.
But at least give Shelter or Farm Bureau a call, it can't hurt. I gladly pay a little more for my Shelter insurance over State Farm because I know the coverage is superior and they don't try to screw you on claims. I learned very early on I needed to be as far away from State Farm and Allstate as possible and it's only been reinforced every day for 8 years now.
Farmers is also pretty solid but they have pulled out of LA where we're at, not sure about all of Louisiana.

Truth. Filed a claim march 2021 pre ida. Took until october for them to pay. Went from “you get $0” to a long arduous process of incompetency and lying on their part to an appraisal process that finally paid something. Never again even if they gave me a free policy.

Liberty Mutual did the same thing to me and I was about to call Allstate to switch.
Go for it.
All insurance has adopted the cable and cell phone model where new customers get the discounts and existing customers get the shaft.
It sucks but it ain't changing. If you aren't shopping every few years you are over paying.

Please name the areas I should move to that don’t have any claims related to weather patterns?

they must not be aware. call them up and advise them of your no claims status that way they can correct their catastrophic loss and modeling forecast of your home cause you ain't ever hads a claims. I mean to hell with inflation and increasing replacement cost over the past 8 years as well. To hell with your home has aged 8 years. Let them know you ain't ever hads a claim bro, you'll be back to $1300 probably within minutes.

Farm Bureau
I recently left FB because they jacked my pricing up by 100% out of nowhere. They were awesome to deal with, though. Had a roof claim 5 or 6 years ago and it was a smooth process with them.

Live in rural N. Louisiana. No flood zone. Have multiple policies with All State including 2 autos, ATV, and life policies on grandkids strictly to build them a savings plan for down the road.
I called my agent, a good friend, who said he'd get back to me. He's always taken care of me on other matters.

Has nothing to do with homeowners. All you need to know about the insurance ignorance that permeates this board

Thank your local plaintiff attorney and public adjuster.

I just called Allstate and switched. New policy is $2000 cheaper for the year than what my renewal would have been.

As is the case with any increase, the first place to look at is how much did they adjust your limit numbers. How much did they increase the dwelling coverage, does the current number appear adequate or do you think they went too high. If they went to high, look at getting an insurance appraisal (don't know the proper term, but your agent will) and try challenging it. If it was an extreme jump and appears out of line with the area, your agent may even be able to have that amount adjusted without the appraisal.
If not worked over, my understanding is most of your other limit numbers are based on the dwelling number. But those can be adjusted accordingly as well. Of course, these are a fraction of the cost of your dwelling.
Also be careful that it is your responsibility to make sure you have enough insurance coverage. If you fall too far under the actual amount to cover the repairs, they will then also get to limit the amount of your recovery/repairs. Of course, I am sure that will be their fault as well.

I went from Progressive who has gone up almost 100% over the last 2 years to to 10,300 this year to Allstate for 5,000 a year. Also switched my auto from progressive to allstate and it went from 8,000/yr to 4,500/yr. Allways shop insurance...

If youre a AAA member they sell pretty decent homeowners insurance but the real savings is in the auto side of things.

I left Allstate years ago. I was seeing yearly premium increases that were higher than 22% just year after year. I called my agent and asked if I could expect an increase next year as well. He stuttered a bit and I told him I was swapping companies.
