I live just past there on the water and think about it as I drive through that shithole to my downtown office. A lot of potential is wasted in the east because of bad politics and "demographics".

there is absolutely nowhere in the state that could support this. any major company the size of amazon looking to set up shop here would be pretty much be signing a death wish

The TV stations are in New Orleans, so you think even New Orleanians believe that they would plunk down an Amazon facility in the Quarter?

Jeeeeeeez.
The Port of New Orleans is still one of the leading ports in the world, as is the entire port system between the mouth of the river and Baton Rouge. That can't be ignored.

I'm not saying N.O. could or would challenge these other cities, but none of these are likely to drop a huge Amazon facility right in their central business districts.

A "New Orleans" location would likely be proposed between Ascension Parish and St. Charles Parish with only the East being a viable location (before 1977.)

There's been talk of a super-regional airport in these same areas for decades.

This can be ignored, because it is a myth. Katrina ruined that, and Houston grasped on tight to become the leading Port in the South.

New Orleans has severely fallen off in the past few years. Being difficult to work with, not allowing new alliances to be formed, increase in traffic from China that would prefer to ship to LA, then rail elsewhere have all been issues they have been facing. They've lost partnerships with automotive manufacturers that have either moved to Houston, or now ship to Mexico and rail to the US.

Anyone that is an advocate for any large business to come to Louisiana is not seeing the bigger picture here (Not saying that you are one of those people). Lack of skilled workforce, corrupt government, instability, and most of us can agree it would be much more difficult to move professional workers from nice areas to NOLA. Dramtically more difficult than it would be to move them to somewhere like Denver, or even Ohio.
