Playing high school ball. I was no world beater, but loved playing football, basketball, & especially baseball for Glenbrook. Proud member of the Class of 1985

I want to watch something now I watch an old western
Used to take the kids to a movie every week and the wife about once a month. Used to watch Frontier Land, Future Land, Nature Land, (I know I got the exact names wrong) on TV every Sunday.
Now haven’t gone to a movie in a theater for over thirty years and don’t miss them a bit. Last show I remember in a theater was “A Few Good Men”. Can’t name any of the Hollywood assholes since Tom Cruise.

We used to have a pick up basketball game every Saturday morning and a flag football game every Monday evening before MNF. Great time with great friends. Wish we could give it a go one more time. You never know when the last time you’re gonna hang out with your college buddies will be as it lasted a couple years after we graduated.

I try to reach out more nowadays. I used to be pretty reclusive, but you’ve gotta tell the people you love that you love them and nurture relationships
Looking forward to going this direction soon.
I just went through an intense 15 years of career restart/building and special need kid raising. My wife and I were successful and now it’s time for me to reap some of the rewards.

Used to get together with my buddies every weekend to have a few beers and cook. Now kids/life/ jobs/distance have gotten in the way and we only get together once a year or so.

Courtship - when you get married everything changes...

The sound of my kids in the house constantly.
They are 28, 25 and 17 now and the 2 older ones have been gone for years. My youngest is always either at school, work or his girlfriend's.
Empty nest is real!

Kind of old here but weekday drinking. I used to have a beer with a nice mid-week meal or did happy hr with friends/coworkers. I stopped doing that at 40 when the morning grogginess would hit if I had more than 1 beer.
Related, work happy hrs. That was a great way to let off steam as a group. Covid killed that routine at my work place and it never came back.

We used to all run the local bars, festivals, poker runs, concerts, etc together every weekend.

So many good answers here that I could repeat but won’t. I guess we’re a lot more alike than we’re willing to admit sometimes lol.
I’ll add a few:
*the 80s
*pre-cellphone. Those things are pretty handy, but I seemed to always get things done, find information and coordinate plans with friends over a landline phone.
*probably the biggest thing though is a pain-free body. I could play full-court basketball for hours and wake up feeling ready to go again. Or work all day in the yard moving freely pushing, pulling, lifting, etc. and wake up feeling energetic. Now yard work has me in pain during and too long after - and usually I go into it already in pain.

My daughters growing up and not being around as much.
College sports. Especially football - I used to turn on a game, any game, and within 5 minutes I would be into the game and pulling for one team over the other. Now it's al I can do to watch a whole LSU game. Nearly the same with basketball.
Drinking - don't enjoy it anywhere near like I used to.
Work - for years I loved my job, do not love it anymore. Ready to get out in the next few years.

I'm 68, and about 3/4 of the posts here apply to me. Especially the post about pain.
This may be one of the saddest threads in the history of the OT. LoL
