That pipeline doesnt supply a lot of the areas where people are panicking

It does supply some areas that are temporarily out of gas.

The pipeline issue was the spark, with the morons being the kindling, I would be laughing too, except for the fact that every gas station around here is either out of gas or has ‘70’s style lines.

The idiotic etiology of the cause of the gas shortage doesn’t negate the fact that there is a gas shortage (locally here)

It doesn't supply Florida. Morons in Florida have closed stations just like morons elsewhere.

I bet you bought a pallet of toilet paper, too. Despite every paper mill in the country telling you they were still manufacturing and hauling toilet paper.

It also isn't the only pipeline. Nor is a pipeline the only method we have to move gas. Morons. Period.

My definition of shortage would be not easily accessible locally for purchase at a fair market value. Gas in North Carolina fits the definition.

If there is nowhere locally to buy gas, there isn’t a local shortage?

I guess you apply the same idea with hurricanes disrupting the local transportation of gas as well. No shortage?

If the US ran out of oil but the Middle East and Russia still had a shite ton, still no shortage, since it is a logistical/transportation issue as opposed to a supply issue.

You're right, Ric....you're right. Save some for the rest of us when you find it.

Hook a brother up with a 10-15 rolls of toilet paper, if you don't mind, too. And, let me get a couple dozen of those pork chops off of you before they get freezer burn, I'm having a cookout this weekend.

You might need the toilet paper tonight, since you’ve never heard of USC song girls.

ETA: get it? Because you’re going to Jack off to them (my best norm Macdonald explaining the joke voice)

Ouch, Ric. Settle down. You hurt my feelings.

And what kind of grown man uses toilet paper when he jacks off? That's just asking for trouble.

Meh. A temporary and unexpected, irrational spike in consumption wouldn’t worry me in the same way a shortage caused by meaningful disruption in supply would.

It’s not ideal when the store runs out of a product you want but I don’t expect them to carry unlimited supply of everything all the time so there will be moments where demand outpaces immediate supply even in well operating and fully reliable/functional markets,

In this case it’ll likely balance out quickly as distribution channels have a moment to react and consumers realize their areas were in no way impacted by any type of reduced capacity

Is it a shortage of some variety? Sure, you can win the semantics game by declaring it a panic button type of word

1500 lbs for that trailer isnt much and the tote looks like it centered in the middle as it should be.

100 gallons is 630 lbs. He could haul 200 gallons on that trailer no problem

Usually when you talk about a gas shortage it's due to an actual decrease in supply. A gas shortage caused by excess demand, as we see here, is really only ever caused by panic buying. Seasonal gas demand is easy to predict. It's not as if everyone is suddenly driving more (actually probably driving less due to prices), they're just filling up (all at once) instead of cruising around with half a tank. This temporary excess demand will be offset by a lull once everyone runs out of places to put gas.

Have a full tank. The madness of I’ll be over soon. The panic stricken people will make it worse.

Come to New Orleans.

No lines anywhere and all stations have gas.

Bring your pistol.
