Dang. I wish my Alexa would do something cool. I forget it’s there. It ended up being a $200 joke machine for a 9 year old.

$200?

Mine was free with the purchase of a bluetooth speaker.

I'm still resistant to getting one of these- they really weird me out. We can control lights/climate/music with an app... and I don't need buying stuff to be any easier or more convenient.

The CIAs plan for you to accept surveillance as part of your life is complete.

There's actually a lot of truth to this. They did this with Samsung smart TVs.

My Alexa tried to #metoo me. She wasn't wrong...just saying I didn't expect it.

Ours just blurts out random things unprompted.....some are due to noises in the room engaging it, but there have been times it was quiet.

I guess I'm fortunate that my Alexa is an idiot.

Her stock answer is "I'm not sure about that"

We use it for music but it is creepy when she randomly turns on or says soemthing.

Speaking of creepy, Google has recently started sending me e-mails with my "timelines" and also pictures from my phone with filters added. My timeline shows every place I've been and it's absolutely the creepiest thing ever. I kind of knew that they were tracking these things for marketing data but to actually see it in a recap is f'ed up.

It’s not free, they record everything said in your house, they’re happy to give it away.

I’m never buying something like that because I like my privacy to remain private but the thing that freaks me out now is when I’m exchanging work emails and then start texting with that contact. He would say his name is Chris Smith or something in the email, and then the iPhone will send me his texts under: “Maybe Chris Smith”

You need to turn off locations services if you don't want it to record everywhere you go and how long you are there.
