I’m never buying something like that because I like my privacy to remain private but the thing that freaks me out now is when I’m exchanging work emails and then start texting with that contact. He would say his name is Chris Smith or something in the email, and then the iPhone will send me his texts under: “Maybe Chris Smith”

I love this.

'I'd never buy a product that lets THEM listen to me, but in the same breath, I'm going to tell a story about how a product (containing a microphone, incidentally) that I've clearly chosen to never go without is spying on me.'

God, people are stupid.

$200?

Mine was free with the purchase of a bluetooth speaker.

I was dumb & bought it 2-3 years ago, before they started basically giving them away.

I use amazon a lot, but nothing in our house is “smart”, so I don’t have much use for it. I occasionally use it to listen to music. The kid uses it to tell jokes & make fart noises.

Speaking of creepy, Google has recently started sending me e-mails with my "timelines" and also pictures from my phone with filters added. My timeline shows every place I've been and it's absolutely the creepiest thing ever. I kind of knew that they were tracking these things for marketing data but to actually see it in a recap is f'ed

Well that’s creepy. These new location emails are going to be the death of many marriages.
