Ok thanks. Yeah me too but it is what is is. Three teenage girls and myself --- they've already made plans of how to spend days inside.

There will be waves in Gulf Shores
It seems like every holiday weekend the rain hits the gulf coast. It makes being stuck in traffic at the tunnel so much better

RDS you see the convection firing around the LLC? Was this expected? I thought the favorable environment would be further north into the Yucatan Straights?

Looks like a Carnival ship found 45kt winds passing through.

@ToddKimberlain 45-kt ship report with 1007 mb east of the low pressure system near the east coast of the Yucatan would implies a 1003 mb central pressure. Winds probably are a little high, but with closed circulation already and organized deep convection, looks like a bona fide TC #90L

Convection this morning is pretty typically of a highly sheared system. The vort on visible sat this morning is probably just one of multiple vorts rotating around a larger circulation. It may or may not become the primary LLC later on. If shear relaxes later on then the convection will be able to "hold on" to one of the vorts and develop a primary LLC.

Yes, but that is confusing to most people. So this thread will be TS Alberto and not STS, sTS or SS Alberto

I’m flying to Cancun and then taking a puddle jumper to Cozumel today. Wish me luck.
