Surprisingly, unprepared hikers going to visit the bus an unprepared hiker died in wound up going poorly.

Stupid people. I'd say let them die, but I can see where the Alaskan police and rescue groups would get kind of tired rescuing said stupid people.

The problem seems to stem around the fact that those people like McCandless are so far removed from nature that they get a false sense security about what nature entails.
Yeah its beautiful, needs protection and all that good stuff but one underlying fact is always ignored. In nature only the strong survive. Not the weak. Not the stupid and not the idealist. There is no mercy in nature.

That movie pissed me off that they were popularizing an idiot who made some stupid decisions that cost him his life. He was lucky the flash floods didn't get him earlier.

I saw the movie. Eddie Vedder was robbed of an Oscar nod for the soundtrack. The kid was an idiot, though. He knew nothing about survival.

Good move on their part. It had become a legit threat to the safety of random idiots who had no business trying to make it to that bus.
