Most time bc we deserved it

With that said I’m 50 with two kids andhave never used a belt with my kids.
Physical abuse makes me sick. Esp involving kids.

That's what happens. See OP.

Exactly. If anything, my dad was calm and said why I was getting one. It was a “you fricked up, here’s the consequence” thing, not venting his own personal anger. I only got spanked when I absolutely deserved it.

I did most of those things too. But I also got my arse whipped when it was called for. And all of them were called for.

The only problem I might have with it is the volume and the hair pull afterwards.

I say may, because I’m not sure how old the little miscreant is. We went 1 for each year of age in most instances. As a kid it was until dad got tired. Hell, a spanking with a belt was getting off easy sometimes.

We got hit at Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge in the 80's...ex Navy Commander Dean of Students and a couple of the Coaches had wooden paddles and taught us a lesson in the front of the class on the regular...bend over and grab your ankles... then WHAM. Nobody went to jail.
Home was worse...
Grow up....she needs anger management therapy, but not jail.

I've been beat worse, and deserved it. I am also better for it as an adult.

Holy Stockholm Syndrome. This thread is quite eye opening. The idea that the majority here seem to think beatings are a requirement to be a successful adult is insane.

Uhh...yeah.

We were little shits with no regard for anything but what we wanted.

I probably got only a quarter of the bearings I deserved because my dad, though he could lay the wood, was truly kind hearted. He hated having to spank us, but we literally left him no choice if he wanted to instill discipline because we were too clever and devious for anything else to work.

The nostalgia for beatings on this thread is a little surprising. Most of us likely got a whipping or two when we were kids. But my father would never have beat me 23 times with a belt and then grab me by the hair and throw me to the ground. I’m calling bullshite that any of you took that kind of a beating when you were children.

I go back and forth on this one. I got arse beatings worse than that when I was a kid but it was never with that kind of anger and loss on control. I think that's what makes this one feel different. She wasn't trying to punish the kid and teach him a hard lesson, she was taking her anger out on him violently.

Exactly, whenever I got the belt, my father would calmly ask me to turn around, grab a chair or whatever and brace for the 10 licks I was about to get. There was no pulling of hair or screaming obscenities in my face. I was then turned around and got the talk about what I did wrong followed by banishment to my room or some kind of tedious yet meaningless task to complete as part of my punishment.

It took a lot to get to the point of the belt being brought out. Usually after it got to that punishment, I usually didn't re-offend in the same way again.

The father should handle the discipline.
I'll guarantee you that's the problem: she didn't need no sorry man. She needed independence.

The rule of thumb is by the age of 4, if you haven't distilled discipline, core principles, how to behave, etc., (which doesn't equate to beating your kids), it's an uphill battle and becomes even more impossible with age.

I've seen bad arse whippings back in the day, some worse than this, and every single one whose parents resorted to such measures over things like "chores" grew up to be a frick up. I've three children. I will never have to resort to anything close to this. If you have to do this then you've failed as a parent.

And again, the root cause analysis is that dad isn't in the home 7 nights a week. When he hits puberty she'll lose the plot completely. The science is abundantly clear: Dad's matter, no matter how much women cope and seethe. This video is exhibit A.

I recall a thread where a black dad wore his miscreant kids arse out with a belt just as bad and most were cheering his discipline.

Hell I've seen worse whoopings in the cereal aisle at Walmart.

I'm sure some of us had grandmas that made us pick our own switches out. Does that mean grandmas were evil people?

Ask any hispanic about a Chacla.

Look, I don't beat my kids, but an over the pants belt spanking of a teenage boy, by a woman at that, is fricking tame.

I've seen nothing posted about his age so I'm not sure why you think he is a teenager. And I'm not sure why you think a woman can't cause damage. Plenty of women have been imprisoned or executed for killing their children. What a bizarre take.

It's incredibly sad.

Their parents did it. No way their parents could be wrong. It must be what they deserved.

It's just not true. Sometimes the adults in your life shouldn't have had children. Or they were ill equipped. It sucks. It's not fair. But to excuse them and delude yourself into thinking getting beat was for the best is just so sad.
