I've lived in Montgomery. I feel safe putting it last even though the only other city I've been to on that list is Baton Rouge.

Do we have to live in the city limits of these cities or in the area? Jackson has some decent towns surrounding it otherwise it's just a crsppy town

City of Jackson and south is horrific but ridgeland is fine and that area of Lakeland from dogwood festival to the high school and up along the Rez is pretty decent.

The OP presents very difficult choices all around, like

Would you rather-

A. Be tied to a tree and have wild dingos gnaw off your penis
B. Be hung naked upside down from a tree limb and have your hands tied behind your back from and have rabid coyotes be able to reach your head
C. Be staked over a fire ant bed and honey poured over you.
D. Be Rex for a week.

1.FL
2.LA
3.AL
4.Hell
Some more choices-

No. Just no.

Jackson is the worst relatively large city in the south. There's not a close second.

The correct answer is:

1. Tallahassee

2. Baton Rouge

3. Montgomery

4. Is not even an option.

I feel like a lot of people are putting Jackson last just because it's in Mississippi. They shouldn't. Montgomery is a damned monument to shitty living.

I read the article yesterday about the ten worst cities to raise a kid and these two shite stains ranked unfavorable so they're a toss up. Guess it depends on what you're personally more/less tolerant of.

Jackson is worse than Montgomery, within the city limits, but the area around it is nicer.

It's actually hard to imagine how fricked up that town is. Worst leadership I've ever seen in a free place, and has a city councilman that couldn't get appointed to the same job anywhere else in the in the world.

City leadership was partially responsible for running off Southwest Airlines, after 17 years of service due to their inadvertent incompetence. There's at least one major shooting, or shootout involving police about once a day now. And gas station robberies and shootings, Jackson has to lead the nation in those numbers, holy shite. In 1980, the city of Jackson had about 200k residents, today about 175k, yet has more murders on an annual basis than many cities that are up to 4 times as large.

Place needs outside intervention by the thousands.
