Tell me how it's relevant to our discussion. I say he shot him for a bad reason. I think we can both agree on that. So why is it relevant to argue that point?

you must have lost track as to what point you're even trying to make.

It's relevant because you're blaming the victim for getting out of a car with a wallet in a situation that thousands of people a year react in the exact same manner.

It's relevant because the cop shot someone, and you're somehow trying to blame the man who was shot, even though all he was doing was exiting his vehicle with his hands in the air while holding his wallet, which contains his ID, which he needs to give...to the officer...who shot him...for doing exactly what the cop told him to do

Of course. They're pigs too, protecting their own.

That's based on what you think is reasonable. You're essentially arguing that your perception doesn't matter- only theirs does. So if a cop starts fearing blue sedans because he thinks they're secret cop murdering monsters, then it sucks to be that driver.

i don't think that would have even worked in this situation. The cop had his gun drawn on him immediately for a fricking fender bender

I initially (wrongly) assumed the man had been pulled over and jumped out of his vehicle.

The actual circumstances only serve to speak more strongly for my case that officers are poorly trained and can be easily startled. It doesn't take much. He would have been better served to wait until the officer walked up to the vehicle so he could communicate his intentions.

There's a lot to take from this experience when it comes to dealing with police.

I think if you understood it better we wouldn't still be discussing this.

I tend to side with police.

This was absolutely a bad shoot. No question.

No one does this for a fender bender. period. You can pretend you do, but we both know you don't.

Hell, most of the time people are already outside of their car when the cops do arrive; looking at the damage and calling family and whatnot.

What if he had poor training and was mentally incapable of doing his job and feared for his life when he saw a black object in the hand of the person exiting the vehicle?
This would be pathetic if true.

It's based on the most logical behaviors one can be responsible for when dealing with officers. If cops start fearing blue sedans then that's out of your control.

Wow, that is an incredibly bad shooting by that officer. I really hope that he isn't on the force anymore, even though he was cleared of legal wrongdoing. Somebody that skittish doesn't need to be a police officer.

That victim could have been any of us if we were involved in a traffic accident.

I should go wrap my wallet in neon green tape in preparation for any future interactions with law enforcement. Apparently, pulling out a black wallet during a traffic accident is grounds for being legally shot.
