I’ve been saying this for years. My wife and I are in shape and not overweight, but if our checked bag weighs 52 lbs we have to pay extra. Yet 2 lardasses can waddle up to the scale and have a 48 lb bag and be fine.
Doesn’t make sense.

They should make a per-seat total weight limit that includes checked and carry-on baggage. If you weigh 98 lbs but have 202 lbs of luggage, you pay for an extra seat. If you weigh 300, you buy another seat if you want to carry so much as a purse.

They should charge by the pound.

Passenger weight is one thing but what about the weight of all of the carry-on stuff? Should that number be included in the calculation?
It is. 190lbs, in the summer, is the “average” weight used for an adult and their carry on.
195lbs in the winter. The thought being people have heavier/more clothes in the winter.

Monitoring weight and balance for safety reasons on flights is nothing new, but the estimated weight for passengers that has been in use has become outdated as obesity rates in the United States have risen.
In 2008, I was boarding a tiny Delta Jet from BTR to ATL.
I got kicked off for being fat, and last. But they gave me free food, a flight an hour later, and a $300 voucher.
Fat Kids RULE!

Airlines should just charge by the pound for the passenger and luggage.

But muscle weighs more than fat!
No. They both weigh the same. Muscle is far more DENSE than fat, so 200 lbs of pure muscle appears smaller than 200 lbs of fat.

I thought standard check bag size limit is either 50 or 70 lbs before you are charged extra.

been telling you lardasses to get to the gym for years, now do you believe me?
I don't need a seatbelt extension or anything, but my upper body does not fit in a single seat.

The first person who’s deemed “too fat to fly” will raise so much hell that the media will call for a cancelation of all air travel

Isn’t that the ulterior motive?
