It really depends where within Airline Park. I grew up off of Lafreniere Street close to Airline Park Elementary and the neighborhood was good. Haven't lived there in many years but some of those flunkies from back in the day are still around, and they are ok folks. But I wouldn't live close to David Drive.

It really does. I can explain the difference between walker, livingston, frost and colyell to you.

That was over on Fairway and Hudson, but I lived down there at the time and had several friends who lived on Fairway. The news helicopter showing the crash site was hovering right overhead and the smell of burning jet fuel was in the air.

That was also 40 years ago.
Most of Airline Park is rather nice enough, very middle class, long established--think 1950s the neighborhood began. Lots of mid-century and simple frame homes "up front" toward Airline Highway, then more 60s and 70s as you go father back between West Metairie Avenue and West Napoleon Avenue.

Airline Park Shopping Center fronts the neighborhood on Airline Highway, across from LaSalle Park with the Performing Arts Center and Zephyr Field. Mike Miley Playground and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Parish are in the very center of the area. There are a few restaurants and things as well. Great Italian bakery, Angelo's.

It's a pretty stable neighborhood.

He’ll fit right in to Airline park. If you like cars with no tires propped up on bricks while you drink on your front porch, that’s the spot.

A few varying thoughts to consider:
-the lowest elevation in that entire area is near the intersection of Camphor and Elise.
-do not buy too close to the apartments around Miley Playground. This may not be too close to where he is shopping, but you sound like you are not familiar with the area.
-I would not buy anywhere near Lafreniere Park. Stay across West Napoleon from the park.

Yes, I grew up in the area.

House looks nice. He is a fireman and paramedic on his side gig down there.

House in Denham is making him a good profit.

Airline Park Elementary is one of the few decent public schools in JP.

It’s a nice area and I assume convenient to his work. As another poster mentioned just try to buy on the high side.

He could probably get a better value fix upper in Bunch Village, closer to River Ridge too.

You do have to test in to Airline Pk. Just don’t want to tease the OP.
