Not to mention a terrible review for future guests to avoid your place.

I would hammer them on reviews. And no way would I ever book a place that would have that in the review.

I will still take a hotel over a Airbnb. Even if the Airbnb appears cheaper at first it will have hidden fees to jack it up or a laundry list of shite they want me to do before leaving.

Also Airbnb owners and the people that swear by them or the new annoying cross fit group

Get a small space heater and put it on a table below the thermostat

The more i read thru this thread, the more enraging it is that anyone is defending this POS owner…. You dont frick around with a Louisiana man when it comes to his air conditioning.. Two options as the AirBNB owner: Either disclose that shite in the Airbnb listing (“guests are not allowed to lower the AC below 80 degrees”).. or BAKE THAT shite into whatever price you are charging for the AirNBNB, so that if a guest wants to set that thing to freezing cold, he can do just that .

I think you and i might be the same person.. except you are even more hardcore than i am- i calculated that i have spent over 2.5 years of my life in Scariott hotel rooms, but according to ur #s you have apparently spent over 4 years of your life in hotel rooms .. that’s kinda crazy.. but yeah, first thing i always do upon entering the room is blast the AC and make sure it’s at least working adequately.. if it’s one of those rooms that have a ‘sensor’ where if you dont walk by the thermostat once an hour or it shuts off, i immediately scratch it off my list for future stays.. fortunately not too many of those in operation anymore, though they do exist .

I would live in a hotel if I could.

Same same.. I have said that for a long time.. especially if room service and housekeeping were included .

Fun fact : Warren Beatty, who was one of my heroes growing up (look him up kids) for about 15 years lived in a suite at the Beverly Wiltshire hotel where he bedded some of the most beautiful starlets in the world.. I think maybe that’s where I subconsciously got the idea about living in a hotel .

I knew a lady who lived on a cruise ship for a year. Including food, she decided it was cheaper than hotels or apartments. She took an around the world journey on the Universe Explorer.

Now add a kid or 3. lol.

Hotels are great if you are a grown adult/ couple by yourself.

Hotels with family, are terrible. I’ve done a hotel family reunion where there’s 12 people in a room. Terrible.

The account you guys are talking about is a parody, it’s laughable “4 plex” guy is someone to take serious about landlord issues.

No shite.. The scenario I described seems like it could be a fun, low-maintenance way to live.. Your example seems like the 9th circle of Hell .

I explicitly ask if I have full control of a thermostat before booking for this reason. frick this guy....you decide you wanna profit by hosting guests, you need to host guests which means allowing them to be comfortable...locked at 73 would piss me off...80 is insane

My AC is on 78 all day and never shuts off. Bill last month was $150. I work at home in a house with two units.

How many people check that? Most assume we have control of the temperature because we are adults.

Set up a hair dryer on heat and blowing on the thermostat.

How do you respond?

Prop a hair dryer up blowing on the thermostat, set it on “hot” and let it eat.

Wouldn’t you be on the hook for the rental agreement?

This is why you call AirBnB to get it resolved. They have been known to find other accommodations for guests who have these types of conflicts.
