I used to think the same. Even after a diagnosis by 2 psychs years ago. But a time comes when you have to face reality and come to grips with the fact that your brain does work differently than most of your peers and there is something abnormal that is the cause.
No one is saying that it's not an issue with some people. The point to which it's diagnosed and medicine is prescribed is extremely bloated, just like many opioids. Probably 90% of people I've seen claiming they, or they're child, have adhd is bs...I've seen them on and off medicine...those are just normal children, or maybe I have a lot more patience...

You haven't grown out of that yet?

You Millennials like to medicalize everything. Maybe you are just a generation of weak minded pussies.

Ditto.
If my story helps anyone: I have come to understand that there is a blurry line between ADHD and Aspergers. One tends to be treated with meds, the other with learning how to deal with it. Whatever works for you... but think long and hard about why you should be any different that what you are.
I say this as a 60+ year old who early-on knew that I was seeing the world differently than others... who were in turn seeing me differently. This was long before we had labels and/or meds to help us understand and deal with who we are.
What's my point? Similar to what I am seeing that many of you have done, I learned how to accept the ups and downs of who and what I am, and how to maximize the benefits of my unique gift.
Don't let others make you doubt yourselves.

I don't buy it. People making lists and writing things down to not forget is something everyone does. They just don't take meth.

I think that’s everybody though. If you don’t take the meds what happens, are you unable to finish a task or something?
If I don’t take meds, a typical day either feels like my brain is constantly flipping channels, or thinking feels like wading through molasses. Super foggy and exhausting to force myself to think when I need to concentrate.

1) Coffee, it's an stimulant just like ADD medicine.
Coffee doesn't make me wanna drink 42 beers and frick all night after talking to a stranger for 2 hours about their terminally ill cousin.

50 yrs ago you inferior humans worked the farms and other blue-collar jobs. Now Mexicans do those jobs and your meds let you pretend to be one of us for the workday.

What were you expecting to see, the hyperactive part of ADHD doesn't necessarily mean you cannot sit still, and are bouncing off the walls. One of my kids has it, he was never a behavior problem, his brain was just going a 1000 miles a minute making normal school work impossible even though testing had put him in a gifted and talented program. Like Barry said we considered it just his personality, and did not believe in trying to change it with medications. He was extremely creative and excelled in things like graphic arts and computer animation. We found educational opportunities where he could utilize his talent and not be punished for not being able to memorize American history. It was easier for us, because I had been dealing with the issue my whole life.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in 5th or 6th grade. This was before they started diagnosing everyone with it and you actually had to go through testing by a neurologist.
When I was first diagnosed I started taking ritalin at the time and I eventually stopped taking it. Tried to take it again in HS, but I didn't feel as sociable and thought it held me back from "missing out" so I stopped taking it.
When I got into college, I started taking adderall on a regular basis and I continue to do so.

6) Close your internet browser
The internet to a person with ADHD is like having a junkie connected to a IV pump full of heroine. As soon as you read a sentence or two you are ready to click on something else, your brain has to have a constant input of new information. Fortunately for me the internet didn't exist when I was in school.

Have about 50 hobbies so there is no chance at being bored. If you get bored you end up with 57 hobbies.

Is this a joke or do you actually believe praying will cure things that are "negative with your biology"?
