My favorite performance of hers was in California Suite. It is an adaptation of a Neil Simon play. She plays a first-time Oscar-nominated actress. Her character loses the award, but Dame Maggie won an Oscar for the role.
RIP to one of the best of her generation.

The Dowager was my favorite character on Downton Abbey. Her resistance to anything modern was hilarious.

Pics? I have no idea who this is
I mean, I didn't watch a ton of her, but she was in Harry Potter and Downtown Abbey. Obviously both were big as frick. Come on.

And probably the last of her generation to have still been working.

Professor McGonagall. Fantastic quidditch scout that landed that 5 star recruit.
Bit of a gambling problem though.

I heard she had contacted the UNLV QB about his unfulfilled NIL... Things were in motion...

Always amazed me how much older she looked in Hook than in the Harry Potter films, despite being filmed 10-15 years earlier

I mostly remember her from "Hook". Even when I was younger I felt the sadness she captured in her scene when Peter came back and saw she was old

She has looked old AF since the 80s

The movie "Hot Millions" came out in 1968. Co-starring Peter Ustinov, Bob Newhart, and Karl Malden. She was 34, beautiful, and hotter than a two dollar pistol.

She had a great face for the roles she played.
RIP.

She created two of the most iconic characters of the 21st century and did a masterful job with both. One of the best actresses of any generation. She will be missed.

Hella good make-up, too. She was just 55 years old when she filmed Hook.

She had the best snippy comments!
Her delivery was flawless and she made Downton Abbey worth watching by herself.
