This is what Bill Burr was talking about in his stand up routine about the epidemic of gold digging whores. Who needs $360,000/year for child support? This is in the news due to Renner's request to a judge to lower his payments from $30K to $11K since he's out of work due to the Chinese Coronavirus shutting everything down.

She clapped back by saying he can afford the payments because he received $20 million for his appearance in Avengers: Endgame.

Yep. If the wife decides to be shitty with the money then the wife decides to be shitty with it. The kid will learn in time.

Part of signing a legal contract is you have to pay to break it. At this point in history everyone knows the damn rules so how can you be surprised by them.

Also, I would offer her a $5MM lump sum instead of monthly payments.

Oh that’s so nice that you think the money all goes to the kids. I hate to burst your bubble but it doesn’t.

My child support is not as high as this guy’s but I flat out know for a fact a good portion of what the states steals from me each month goes into things like clothes and shoes and even trips for my ex-wife. Trips she takes when I have the kids.

Her entire life style is supported by the child support I pay not just the kids.

Exactly. The kid costs the same as any other kid. The one big difference may be education. Mom doesnt need to have a Bentley and a massive house

Pro-tip: The State only "steals" from you because you are unlikely to pony up on your own.

So you kind of reveal yourself here as most upright dudes just pay directly if in this situation.

ETA: All these downvotes from deadbeats in arrears.
If you could just be trusted to pay, ya know.

I have no frame of reference here on this subject and am ignorant. Is this money that is mandated by child support tax free for the ex?

How does that work for filing taxes as “income” and can they also apply for unemployment if this is their sole “income?”
