But nothing matters at all, Anything that 99.999999% of us have done is already or will be forgotten shortly in life and definitely after death.
Everything you do is completely futile, and won’t change anything.
Like the drunk prayer….”and the wisdom to know the difference” that wisdom is you and nothing you do will ever matter so stop thinking you can punch the wind.
It’s not just you it’s everybody, except a handful of names every generation.
So when comparing yourself to your peers, You are just envious or trying to be the focus of envy….of having the highest score in a video game….that no one will play in a few years.

Do you mind elaborating? I had a work project coming up in 10-14 days, but just had trouble getting it off my mind. I had a nice hour or two unwinding, but when I plopped down on the couch to finish the night off with a show, it slowly built and crept up on me. And what do you mean by professional? Primary care physician? Internal medicine? Psychiatrist? Counselor?

Quit that job and start exercising for starters.
The shakiness is very normal when your stress hormones are on overdrive like yours seem to be. It’s normal to see an increase in tremors in your hand, feel jittery, feel like it’s hard to breath, and wake up quickly amongst others. Just know that nothing is REALLY wrong.
I had a panic attack at 35 after my second child was born. I wasn’t sleeping at night due to the baby, I was working super long hours because my coworker had torn his Achilles , and I had a dying family member back home. Went to a physical and the PA said some of my labs were off and it just set off a cascade for a few weeks.
It definitely took a few months to kind of break out of the cycle and about a year before I was completely back to normal. Lifting heavy weights again and exercising in addition to sleeping more is what broke me out of it. I changed my work schedule and remembered to just chill and take some breaths.
You can break out of it without meds but you have to reduce the source of your stress.

Exercise + diet + sleep
Get some exercise every day, even if you just go for a 30 minute walk. Eat right - more fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. Get a good nights sleep - go to bed around the same time every night and try to get 8 hours. I also don't watch much TV, and pay no attention to Facebook or Twitter. I also try to be kind to people - smile, say thank you, etc.
I don't follow my own advice as much as I should, but when I do I can see a difference for sure.

I'm not saying I've totally achieved these things (I'm not sure anyone ever does), but I have made strides.
For me it started with a potential life ending disease,which I survived through a transplant after being pretty sick for a long time. After I recovered I went from a profession in which most projects were zero sum type conflicts (law) to one where they weren't (education). They are both challenging in different ways, but the latter is infinitely more rewarding for me.
For the past 4-5 months, I've been dealing with another potentially life threatening medical issue, but I'm thankful they have treatments and grateful for good news when it pops up.
Bottom line I think is have gratitude and, like someone above said see what you can do to help others.

Start the treatment. I'm also one to put off things that are to benefit myself, but there are times when we really do need to listen to the doctors.

You have to cut out the negatives you don’t really need - if that’s your job - then find a new one
If it’s people - tell them to take a hike
Deal with things as they come and don’t put anything off
Exercising and quiet time of reflection (whether this be religious or not is up to you) helps a lot too

I started having panic attacks when I was in college. Like yours, the first one just came out of nowhere. I went to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack/dying. ER diagnosed panic attack, gave me a script for the lowest dosage of Xanax, and sent me on my way. I did ok through that script, but once it was out, the panic attacks came back in various forms. I began having difficulty swallowing for no reason. I remember scrambling two eggs for myself one evening, and it literally took me more than thirty minutes to eat them. I was also dealing with depression at the same time. I finally decided to see a psychiatrist. I’m not saying that you have to go that route, but I’d at least see a counselor. I’ve been on meds for thirty years now, and my quality of life is MUCH better now. I wish you the best, and I hope you find the peace and happiness that you seek. Life is hard.

Best of luck to you. Keep that positive attitude. That is a big plus factor.
Mine is bladder, and the treatments are once a week for 6 weeks followed up by regular checkups and additional treatment if necessary.
To the OP: Upshot of all of this is: Enjoy life. Be thankful for the things you do have - health, family, etc. There have been some great recommendations throughout this thread on things like exercise, quiet time, etc. Try those and I hope everything works out great for you.

I've been going to see the specialist, he comes once a month from Seattle and I usually see him once ever 3-6 months.
I have an appt in September, might try to get one in August due to the weight loss.
I'm afraid losing any more weight will come with a huge loss of energy.

I get a version of this. I usually feel it coming on a few days before but when I'm in the midst of it, it's extremely hard to eat anything. I'm definitely not a stress eater, I'm the exact opposite.

I went to rehab and stopped hating my father and being terrified of becoming what he is. I'm a year sober and wrote him a final letter when in rehab. He's spending the rest of his life in prison and I am not him.
