This is not normal and talking with other guys in the same situation to attempt to normalize it is unhealthy. At 55 in a healthy marriage you should still be having sex at a minimum once a week. In most normal marriages that's around the time sex frequency actually increases as kids become older and move out of the house. Do not let others tell you that this is normal in a healthy marriage (particularly your wife). It's not.

All of these posts make me feel like me and my wife are the weird ones. Early 40's and 2-3 times a week has been the norm for a long time.

That's awful. I tell my GF in the general age range about these threads, and she looks at me like all of you are dumb as a box of rocks.
If I tried to get away with less than 6x a week, she would want to go to counseling to fix it. It's currently at 4-5x a day four times a week.

Never claimed I was normal.
I never had the privilege of learning how to talk to women. I talked to them like men, and that doesn't work. Didn't know 30 years ago, And it hasn't gotten better.
I knew what I was getting into when I got married. I married the best available to me after striking out in every direction. We share similar views on kids (we dont have any), Money (we don't have any) , Politics, everything except sex. Knowing what I knew about myself, my own ineptness with the opposite sex, i decided I'd better take what I can get. And did.
Doesn't matter how much you want something, if you cant get it, effort doesn't matter. If you beat a dog long enough, He will learn his lesson. Its just took me this long.
She has health issues she wont address, I addressed mine, Doc says I am good to go, but I am all dressed with nowhere to go. If she said hey go ahead and do what you want to, I wouldn't know where to start. I have no idea what I am doing. I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't hang out in bars, I don't hunt or fish. There's not a chance in HELL I am giving up what little I have for a nebulous CHANCE I might find someone that might have sex with me. Oh no, I have been down that road before. I know where it goes.
I have a pretty good life, everything paid for, food in the larder, roof above my head paid for, cars paid for.
I'm just not frickin. Oh well. Wasn't meant for me.

Just found out recently that a friend hasn’t had sex with their spouse but a handful of times in 15 years. The only time it existed for more than a couple times was to conceive a child.
Since that child was born almost 10 years ago, sex can be counted on one hand.
Blows my mind.
