If its just unvaccinated getting sick and dying, why do the unvaccinated people care? If someone knows the risks and makes the choice to not get vaccinated why do people care? I don't scream at people who smoke, I don't yell at people who ride motorcycles without a helmet, hell if you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane go right ahead. What is this all about, really?

Because you’re keeping the virus alive and mutating by becoming a host for it. It won’t survive and mutate at a fast rate if we all get vaccinated. The variant strains are what is dangerous. Delta is more contagious and causes worse symptoms. The point of the vaccine is to make it to where the strain(s) are contained in such a way that we don’t have a wild mutation that breaks through the efficacy of vaccination and turns us all back into hermits.

I’m not saying you are stupid or wrongheaded for not getting the vaccine. I will simply say that the vaccines have been administered to millions of people now and the side effects, at least the ones that show up within the first 6 months of vaccination, are known and are rare. Far rarer than the horrible effects COVID can have on even healthy people.

If you don’t want to get vaccinated, that’s fine, but I hope you understand that it will lead to another lockdown so we can keep the virus from continuing to spread and infect (and reinfect) people. If you like living with masks, by all means don’t get vaccinated. I for one don’t like masks and don’t want to deal with lockdowns again.

I’m sure this post will go over well, but in the event it doesn’t, I wish you all well no matter what your decisions.

LOL, that is a graphic that has quotes about statistics. The people/offices they attribute the quotes to are inept in every way, so why does anyone care what they say? If they showed stats with the actual sources and some SCALE to go with percentages, I might take note. 100% of the people to test positive for COVID-19 got a COVID-19 test. There, another pointless percentage to add to the chart. Millions more walking around completely unaffected that we can't cite as a stat because if you're healthy the is no reason to get a test.

Ever? Are you against vaccines in general?

Edit: the culture war going on here is just fascinating to me.

Doctors. On the news. Who are obviously in on the conspiracy to get you all jabbed with a thing that will inject 5G into your veins.

Incorrect

It seems from a data study standpoint, delta causes less severe covid

They clearly love hyperbole

From a data standpoint

Original covid spike in the UK caused roughly an 8.5 times higher hospitalization rate than that of Delta

Explain that. Because reports conflict on that. I’m happy to be wrong and I hate the NYT, but I believe it was them that first reported that docs were saying they’ve seen more severe symptoms.

Docs can say alot of things, follow the actual science though

I suggest looking up death rate and hospitalization rate per case in the UK for Delta vs the original strain

We’re crossing like ships in the night with our posts. Fair enough. Provide that data if you have it. I also wonder if that has to do with the most vulnerable being more or less vaccinated. Unlike Alpha, most people now know to wear masks, wash hands, isolate if needed, and most of the UK is vaccinated, particularly the elderly and at risk. Does the data account for those variables?

Data from June 21-27 documented 1.91 hospitalizations per 100,000 new cases, staying basically unchanged from the previous week’s rate of 1.92 hospitalizations per 100,000 new cases.

The rate is drastically lower than during the winter surge, which saw a peak rate in January at 37.2 hospitalizations per 100,000 new cases.

So, would you say a virus strain that produces 37 times less hospitalizations per case is more or less severe?

Apples to apples with unvaccinated and similar age cohorts?

There's no evidence it's worse but with a partially vaccinated population I don't think those numbers support less severe on their own.
