I bought a new truck in February 2021 for 17k below MSRP. Dealer called me 4 months later and offered me MSRP to buy it back from me, mileage and all. Which meant they’d sell it for well over MSRP. I would have sold it back to them and taken the profits, but my replacement vehicle would have cost a ton too

It sucks. My husband keeps saying I need a new car — driving a 2013 Honda Pilot with 175k miles. I’m like let’s just out new tires but he says there’s no end in site to this. Two of our 3 kids are out of state and I want to visit and it’s often by myself (due to his work schedule).

Ugh.

Exactly my 2020 truck with 32k on it is worth 2k more than I paid for it on trade. I'd buy a new one tomorrow if I could find one for MSRP. My warranty is about to expire will need tires soon etc. I'd rather just start over for 10-12k at this point. It's a business expense anyway.

The good news is the chip issue is being solved. Intel is building a $20 billion chip plant in Ohio. Bad news is it won’t be in full production until late 2024.
These are not the semiconductors you're looking for.

I managed to find an F-150 below MSRP and did this, made a profit on my F250 after a year and 36k miles and ordered another at X-plan (roughly invoice). Driving the F-150 till new Superduty shows up.

Going to keep flipping till the market cools.

They are also paying premium prices for used trades, so it’s a wash or better.
I traded my F150 that was a little under a year old and had 16K miles. They gave me $3K more than I paid for it new. Bought a new Mach 1at sticker plus they threw in aftermarket leather that cost $1,700. I was very happy with that deal.

ETA: Most dealers want $6-10K over sticker for a Mach 1.

I wouldn’t get rid of a perfectly good working vehicle without a car note for a car note period

This is the move. I’ve flipped trucks for the last 4 years and made significant profit since Covid hit. If you find the right deal and mode/package you can do very well

I paid 6% off MSRP in December. Do I get a medal or something?

This. Just bought a 22 Frontier at MSRP. But they gave me nearly what I paid for the 2018 model when I bought it in 2018.

For me, it's a wash.

Work pays for mine and it can’t be older than 5 years. So I ordered. Searched the forums online and found a dealer that honored GM Supplier discount. Only found 1 and I called probably 100 dealerships. Ended up saving 6K under MSRP. $180 1 way flight from South Carolina. 8 hr drive back. Worth it 1000%. FYI, Lockhart Cadillac in Indianapolis is the shiznit if you need a new Cadillac.
