The brutalist style architecture that many of the govt buildings utilize is absolutely garbage.
How anyone can look at brutalist architecture and think “oh that’s a nice looking building” is beyond me.

It was a confederate memorial statue. There are dozens exactly like it around the south. When the new Town Square was built, it was supposed to be moved over to the grounds of the Old State Capitol. I don't think it ever got moved there and is instead in storage, possibly at DPW.
Edit: Post above me says it was eventually moved to the Old State Capitol.
