I think child sexual abuse is about the most vile, disgusting thing someone could do and so does everyone else I know.

Completely agree, but pedophilia is widely accepted as a mental illness. The fear is that in an effort to embrace the "abnormal", it will be difficult to draw the line down the road.

I don't think we're past the point of no return, but things like the bathroom mandate certainly give me pause.

Just a little trinket of info for the board. There is a tribe somewhere in Africa where it is a tradition for a young male to celebrate his coming of age by having sex with an older male relative, typically an uncle.

And before you judge, check your Western privilege.

Sad when even your 3 y/o daughter knows you're a pussy.

Damn. I could have been a 5 star women's basketball recruit.

This isn't going to end until someone fields a team of all 'men who identify as women' and they go undefeated winning the state championship.

They don't. The 9 year old human mind is not developed enough to be able to understand the long-term ramifications of any serious matter. This is why 9 year olds can't do things like enter into legal contracts, drive and automobile, join the military, etc.

This. And its it's the scariest part. Mostly because, when talking about these things like slippery slopes, bathrooms, pedophilia, etc., this becomes more apparent.

The possibility, as we make these wild shifts in treating mental illnesses as normal, is not that something like pedophilia will become "legal" in and of itself, but that we would either seriously lower or eliminate the age of consent. That's the issue.

This story is based around giving the child more agency and responsibility than their age would dictate possible. Or their reasoning skills. It's kind of insane how much this allows a kid to decide, and how little actual parenting matters in this case.

Look at NAMBLA. I will never type that into my search bar for fear of being put on some pedo watch list.

For the longest time I thought NAMBLA could be used interchangeably with NIMBY.

Nope.

Congrats on the new son!

I kid, I kid.

Perhaps 'kid' isn't the best word to use in this thread.

I'm just joking with you.

I just don't understand how a 9 year old has any idea what this is.
They dont, parents enable this, the DOJ and Obama support it. This child's mind is a scrambled egg.

movies like this and Mrs. Doubtfire make jokes about stuff like this and yet this is really what our country is becoming.

Yeah, I was watching Saved by the Bell the other day and thought you could never make these jokes now.

All the jokes about Zack dressing up as a woman (when he sold the girls phone numbers in video yearbooks), Screech dressing up as a woman (to go in girls' locker room and record them singing).. Slater called Chess guy a "commie" (although Jessie called him out on it), Zack's "Indian" heritage, dressing up as an Indian at school, Screech being a beauty queen and it being funny (today that is a serious topic, why can't Screech be a queen, it's his right, DUH) etc....the PC world we are in today wouldn't go for it.

Hopefully winning by 80+ or more too. Their bravery will be celebrated while their sportsman?ship will be questioned.

attention whore, just like the rest. it's okay to like activities that the opposite sex typically enjoys, you don't have to call yourself "trans" to do that shite. shame on his parents and school for promoting this low-rent bullshite. it's a 9 year old for fricks sake
I think it's ironic how you first call this child an "attention whore" and then later act exasperated about her being "a 9 year old for fricks sake"

And for all we know, the child doesn't call herself "trans". She could just insist that she feels like a girl. She doesn't have to have this more complex idea of "transgender" formulated in her mind to feel like a girl (in other words, to act like a girl so consistently that that's how she self-identifies).

Who knows? It's between her, her family, and her medical professionals IMO.

No, "she" isn't, "he" is. Has a dick = "he", has a vagina = "she".

So will he be allowed to shower with the girls? I'm sure the other parents will love how progressive they and their daughters will be.

In order to prevent discrimination, we must provide special treatment for anyone that could be potentially discriminated against.

This is what always baffles me about this stuff. Liking to wear dresses and play with dolls doesn't make you a girl. I don't see how people make this connection. Why not adjust expectations for a boy? That seems liberal enough to me. The claimed difference between gender and sex is forced as hell by these people.

The argument seems to come down to people references very rare medical anomalies that don't actually apply most of the time or saying that people's desire on how they want to identify themselves should take precedence. No. These are basic descriptors. They are words that have meanings. I can't choose to be something that I'm not.

Sorry for the rant. I think that I tend to be a pretty open minded, libertarian sort of guy, but this shite makes me feel like I'm going crazy.
I think you'll find that a ton of people who are very uncomfortable/in opposition to transgender people and transgender rights are also staunch advocates of more traditional gender roles and gender conformity. That certainly appears to be the case on tigerdroppings.

And there is undeniably a difference between sex and gender--it's built into the definitions of the words. Sex refers to biological differences, while gender refers to social and cultural differences (think "gender roles").

One can argue that there shouldn't be social/cultural differences or gender roles for the distinct sexes, but that's kind of a different argument. We do have distinct genders in our culture, although plenty of people are gender non-conformist in some ways. Some types of gender non-conformity are more acceptable to the general population than others, obviously.

He/She can also refer to gender, versus sex. There is a difference. Crack a dictionary if you're not sure.

So it's she, referring to her female gender.

But it's cool if you're still in denial bruh
