That said, sexual repression can result in bad stuff, I'd wager. I don't think that gay people are more likely to engage in sexual abuse of children (true pedophilia, at least by my layman's definition), but it wouldn't shock me if it was shown that at some point in history, there was some higher rate of underage relations among gay men in particular.

You're probably right.

So was she a he or is she and she and wants to be a he? The parents should be shot. You are going to allow your 9 year old to make this decision.

Not sure if I'd go that far, I think NAMBLA is a pretty fringe type of org that would be rejected by most gay guys.

I try to think about this in as fair a manner as I can. For some reason, the old guy-young guy thing is particularly creepy to me. But, is it that much weirder than a 50 year old dude with a 21 year old mistress/gf? I don't know. Maybe it's just the "gay" element that makes it worse for me.

But, there are two things that I think may make it more common in the gay community. Note, I'm not saying it is more common, but it wouldn't be terribly surprising.

First is secrecy. You have a lot of people who for a long time couldn't openly do what they wanted. Adults have influence over young people in general, so I could see gay guys pursuing younger people they thought were impressionable. I guess there would be opportunity too. A dad is generally not going to let a teenage girl hang out with a middle aged dude. Same might not be true for a guy.

Second is culturally radical behavior. I once had a gay guy tell me he wanted gay marriage not as some struggle for justice, but rather because he hoped it would quell the urge of the LGBT community to "act out" so much. Basically, he wants gay people to get married and assimilate into normal life. In New Orleans once, I saw an older gay dude leading a quite young looking dude around on a leash. Anyone who has ever witnessed a pride parade has seen some weird shite, most likely. It's a leap to say that hooking up with underage people would be the byproduct of that, but there is certainly a tendency to push the envelope in socially unacceptable ways.

See above, I hadn't really focused on that, but that's what I'm talking about with my "already pushing the envelope" idea.

I agree that it is an extreme argument, but don't be so obtuse as to act like they're mutually exclusive. By most accounts, transgender is a mental illness. Pedophilia is also a mental illness. I don't get caught up in the slippery slope argument much, but the concern from many is that the line is being blurred as to what mental illnesses are acceptable and which ones aren't.

In the rush to be "progressive" and be as "inclusive" as possible, reason and logic are being cast aside and real illnesses are being encouraged.

I was suggesting that the fringe groups, (NAMBLA, trannies, etc.) might be more likely to engage in more reprehensible behaviour, if they have the means.

Not suggesting it's gays in general. But the more into that underworld you get the more depraved things get.

And soon after gay marriage passes, now it's acceptable for men to go the women's bathroom with little kids. I don't see that I'm dumb for thinking what the future will bring when we are this far right now.

Serious question because I'm not sure I understand the nuances of being transgender. Was Brittney Griner, the center for Baylor women's basketball transgender or simply gay? She appeared to me very masculine and eventually had a same gender marriage that didn't end well. It's hard for me to separate the transgender and homosexual issue when comparing the two outside of sexual partner preference.
