I wonder what would happens to these 31 counties if the other 3000+ counties didn’t buy anything from them.

The thing is most of the other counties in the US would be fine without those counties and many would prefer it.

1%ers are bad. Votes from those counties should be thrown out because we don't want money controlling politics.

Not sure about Cleveland but metro Detroit is a bigger than metro KC and metro Nashville combined (and is bigger than metro Denver).

It’s not what it used to be, but it’s still a huge and economically important area of the country.

I would have guessed Denver, Nashville, Portland, Indy, or KC above Detroit and Cleveland as well.

With that said, I feel like the economy has always been concentrated, and is probably more spread out now than ever before.

Only means that’s where most private and public consumption takes place and where a large portion of company headquarters are located. If you think a lot of goods are produced in LA, NYC, and Chicago you would be wrong.

You think their own personal politics had anything to do with them stating those businesses?

Metropolitan development precedes the liberal influx. Not the other way around.

Please help this idiot read that list. Are those the number of billions of $ each area makes?

Or is that number the raw number per year?

It’s GDP or the value Of goods and services produced in those areas.

This isn’t a shocking list in any way other than to show that the highest producers will continue to make more significant gains in production than anyone else. It’s economies of scale and it’s been around forever.

Yeah, NY has over 1.4 Trillion dollar production annually.

It’s in the top five highest producing cities in the world every year.
