Checking in. 29 and living at home. Just graduated two weeks ago and started work. Financially, I could move out right now. But staying at home and saving money just makes too much damn sense. Lived on my own for 10 years before moving back in to finish school. Plus, I am pretty sure my mom likes having me home since my dad passed away 6.5 years ago.

The guy posting pics of his spec house with cheap 12" floor tile around the fireplace wall so that the builder could save a few bucks in an effort to try and prove something to random strangers on the internet is calling others mad.

Classic!

Lived on my own for over 2 years after graduating college. I'm in the process of moving back home because I just got a new job close to my parents. I expect to be there about 6-8 months until I can buy something on my own.

Housing prices in Lafayette arent doing you any favors anyway. Laffy and now LC markets are hopping because of the oil and gas boom. $50 billion in upcoming development will do that though.

Yep. I get my food stamps and free phone too. I mean, why not? Just more cash in my pocket.

I've got a downpayment in equity in a rental I have in BR. However, I want to keep that long term so I'm just saving for a downpayment from my wages.

I think I'll be in pretty good shape at 35.

Nice. I saved enough for a down payment I wont have to pay PMI. Pathetic right?

I personally would be careful buying in either city in the next few years. Its no doubt a bubble and its one that may last 20 years. No one knows, but I would buy smart so I dont lose my arse on resale. Maybe even get a fixer upper.

Yeah, but this is the market I'm in. I agree with you that a bubble is forming and I'll have to be careful about it.

I'm 1.5- 2 years from pulling the trigger on something

It would help if the Baby Boomers will actually retire.

It's hard for the baby boomers to retire when the finish line keeps getting moved on them.

Used to you could retire at 62 without too many penalties. Not anymore.

I swear kids today don't have a clue about how easy they have it. I started working before I could legally drive and when I was in high school, I bought my own clothes, bought my own car and even paid the insurance on it, all by myself. Did I miss out on some parties? Hell yeah, but what I learned about work ethic and responsibility has carried me pretty far thus far. I'm not meaning to sound like a grumpy arse old man, but get the titty out of y'all's mouths and go meet the world head on.

I guess you didn't read my other post where I was diagnosed with a auto immune disease and missed 1 and a half of college because I was sick. I was in the hospital for over a month with this disease. I try not to use it as an excuse but it was a difficult time for me and this past winter it came back. I don't make all that much at my job so I pay for what I can and atleast I do that. So not everyone's situation is the same and Im sorry I still have the tit in my mouth.

Don't worry about crodgy old farts like that. He also walked 10 miles to the school in the snow barefoot.

I don't envy him at all.
