I think this is the best movie of the year. Reese and Dern were amazing. I was sobbing like a bitch, however I did happen to see it on the anniversary of losing my dad to cancer.
Ok. So after watching a few videos I finally felt comfortable enough to go ahead and unlock the bootloader. Although I am not 100% sure what that actually does for me.

I may go ahead and root later on.
Nexus noob here. Was finally able to pick one up from ATT yesterday( after much arguing with the sales associated who wanted me to switch plans, I have a very old plan with unlimited data).

My real question is what to do to get the full Android/Nexus experience. I was able to delete all of ATT's bloatware apps and remove the ATT logo from the back. I am just not familiar at all with "rooting' or unlocking bootloaders. I am coming from a Galaxy S3 which i enjoyed for the most part, but understand that pure android is 1000x better.

Any suggestions?

Credit Card Statement

Posted by Fat Andy on 10/13/14 at 6:47 pm
I recently got a rewards credit card to use mostly for things that I will pay off every month. I also use it for work travel( I pay for everything and then the company reimburses me the next week.) M

This is my question, is there anything wrong with paying off as soon as I am reimbursed or should i wait until I receive the statement?

I'd save the Chase Slate for later because it has the additional 0% fee/0% APR balance transfer feature that you should keep open on the back burner if you ever need that sort of thing.

If you apply for it now, you won't have the option in the future to get it.

So it sounds like I should apply for the Chase Freedom.

Chase Freedom and Chase Slate are two that I was looking at. Slate interested me with its 0% introductory APR. Although that won't matter much since i plan to pay it off monthly.

Credit Card Recommendations

Posted by Fat Andy on 9/16/14 at 12:36 pm
a little back ground. I recently graduated from college at the ripe age of 29 and started working in the oil and gas industry as a purchaser. While starting salary is not great right now I am expecting a 40% increase in salary over the next two years. I am currently living at home to save money to purchase a home in the coming years.

My credit score is not great but not terrible, 660 range. I am just looking for a credit card to use for small purchases( gas, groceries, etc.) to pay off monthly and build credit.

Any suggestions on where to start my search?

Saw it yesterday. Really good movie. I thought it was very well paced. There is not a whole lot of action to it but it was a great slow burn.Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini were both really great in it.

Guy in front of me obviously thought it was gonna have more action. Turned to me after it was over and said it was the most boring movie he had seen.

Lafayette- Handyman Service

Posted by Fat Andy on 9/1/14 at 9:51 am
My mom is looking for a reputable handyman in Lafayette to do some light work around the house. Basic stuff like painting and putting in a few new light fixtures.

Does anyone have a recommendation on who she should call?

Pretty similar to my situation. I am enrolled in a company 401k though which takes out 7% of my pay. usually after taxes and 401k my check is a little over $1000. $200 of that goes directly into a savings account that i set up that do not plan to touch except maybe for a down payment on house or car. I have a realtively small amount of student debt( >$10 grand). I am paying more than the minimum each month to pay off early. This is what works for me right now. Pay should increase over the next two years and will be able to increase my savings. I live at home but pay my car insurance, cell phone, and cost of the storage unit my belongings are in.
Love it.Even though as a child of the 80's i notice sometimes where their pop culture references are a bit off.

It is a lot of shite to learn. But i am enjoying the hell out of it. The guy i work with is a riot plus he knows so much about the field.
I was originally an accounting intern with this company and he approached me about doing purchasing. So glad he did, this is a lot more fun that accounting.
graduated last month. started at a small oil and gas company here in Lafayette as a purchasing specialist making 36k.
There is only one other guy in purchasing and he is in his mid 60's so I was hired by him to be his eventual replacement. Should see a nice bump in pay over the next few years as well.

Ipod Transfer

Posted by Fat Andy on 6/16/14 at 7:44 pm
Have an ipod with about 4000 songs on it. only problem is the original computer it was all stored on crashed. Got a laptop and installed itunes and want to move all of the ipod to the laptop and put on an iphone i use for work.

How do i accomplish this for free?

Thanks
Checking in. 29 and living at home. Just graduated two weeks ago and started work. Financially, I could move out right now. But staying at home and saving money just makes too much damn sense. Lived on my own for 10 years before moving back in to finish school. Plus, I am pretty sure my mom likes having me home since my dad passed away 6.5 years ago.

Very odd choice

Johnny Knoxville to voice Leonardo and Tony Shaloub to voice Splinter.

What a weird choice for Leonardo. Shaloub I am sure can pull it off though.
