I've put up numbers while living at home. The chicks don't care.
Good to hear. Personally I'd feel extremely awkward about it.

I'm guessing she got knocked up 10 years ago and the guy bailed.

This is what happens when baby boomers and some of gen x refuse to retire and keep working until they drop dead.
Worst pair of generations ever and it's not even close.

I doubt they do that cause they love work so much. I'm sure many can't afford to retire.

Just seems like it makes sense to a certain age/point to continue to live with your parents after HS/College. I recently moved back home and plan to stay until I finish my 1st year of teaching. Want to pay a little bit of my loan, put some $$ for moving out and look for a good car deal before going out on my own.
Not about being a total mooch as I've seen that done within my family and it's just not cool. I give them some $$ each month that covers my part of things, which still ends up to be much cheaper then living on my own.

For some. Others may want to leave ASAP. That was the case with me. I was sharing a bedroom with a mentally challenged sister 10 years younger than me(we freaking had bunk beds people...bunk beds). Grew up in a tiny house in the ghetto in NBR. One bathroom for 6 people. No central a/c.
I GTFO as soon as I started college. Had to move back home for like 2 months while in college and quickly moved out again for good when I was 19.

I have to give you props for being where you are in life after coming from that background, not many people could do what you have done!

Yeah I totally get moving out ASAP if you can, I mean can't really hate on that. Ideally I'd love to, but given my desired profession I'd like to build up a solid financial foundation while I can. I'm just thankful my parents have the room for me and I can deal with em
Just don't really get those who look down on not moving out right away, gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead

Thanks 480
My parents instilled in me from a young age the importance of education. What was a comment from my dad when I was a kid "College fund?!, THIS (points at my head) is your college fund" stuck with me always.
Also, living the way I lived as a child...motivated me to do better than that when I grew up.

Everyone's situation is not the same. Personally I still reside at home, at 21 years old, sort of. I am a college student, so during the school semester I stay at school. But during summer and winter break, I am at home. Sure I could move away into my own apartment, but why add unnecessary financiall stress into my life?

Well duh. Our population is getting older and the old folks aren't retiring. Look at other well developed economies and you'll see that's the case there as well.

24-year-old here living at home.
I only graduated less than a month ago though. I'll probably move out as soon as I get a job (in engineering, so it shouldn't take long).

Although they do say that you deduct 6 years from the typical male these days below the age of 28.
I'm thinking 10+ for yourself

i'm sure you really did your children a service by raising them in that hell hole called Denham Springs.
Want me to get off your lawn, old man?

Moved back in with my parents for next 6 weeks before I move to Tampa for work. They don't care because they know I am saving money and haven't spent money on me since I graduated high school.

Best financial decision of my life living at home after grad school and before I was married. And of course she had her own place so I wasn't stuck at home and my parents are really cool.

With no exceptions. These parents are definitely not helping these kids by letting them mooch.
bullshite. I stayed at home until I was 26. Moved back in after college at 23, got a decent entry level job, saved up to buy a house with my soon-to-be wife, etc. They were kind and gracious enough to let me stay with them in order to ensure I had a solid foundation for my future. Smartest decision I ever made and I thank them all the time for it.
