Democrats believe black people are inferior and need special help.

I don't believe this at all.

Some excerpts. "Yet vehicle deaths turn out to be highly unequal. Lower-income people are much more likely to die in crashes, academic research shows. The racial gaps are also huge — even bigger on a percentage basis than the racial gaps on cancer, according to the C.D.C"

"Poorer people are more likely to drive older cars, which can lack safety features. Low-income neighborhoods are also much more likely to have high-speed roads running through them. “We have systematically put these arterial roadways in areas where people had less political power to fight back,”

Is it even a remote possibility that some of these things cause accidents? Speeding, texting, drinking and drugging, not wearing seat belts, running from law enforcement. No, not possible.

This was not a “study”. This had a predetermined outcome

So easy access to the interstate and major highways to get around quickly is now racist?

Poor people are also often poor because they make poor choices. Like taking their eyes off the road to look at their phones to check social media or texting.

They’re also disproportionately harmed more in accidents as pedestrians. Are they running over each other?

Just like the black woman holding her young baby in front driver's seat on Siegen yesterday. Kinda crazy stuff. She didn't put her kid in danger at all. Too many cars on road today to trust others to drive safe.

If the NYT actually was a true journalistic organization, they would have named these safety devices. Furthermore all cars are required to have safety features plus each design is tested by the government using simulated crash tests before being certified for sale.

Surprisingly "high speed" which isn't defined by the article is another red flag that this is more social justice nonsense. FYI speed as a single cause of wrecks amounts to only 3% of car accidents.

The biggest thing here is the NYT ignores behavior. The idea that the people involved in the accidents are driving in the same safe manner as other groups is beyond ridiculous.

There is no safety feature that can save some one from their own actions.

Same argument abortion rights people use. "It affects poor people more". Why, because they can't pull out, but rich people can?

I hate these silly demographics arguments.

If they would put insurance on their vehicles, they wouldn't have to wait 10 months to go buy one with their tax money again.

I saw 2 chargers drag racing down a busy surface street during morning traffic today. Just shook my head.

A med student tried imply the premise of the article one day. I quickly corrected her. I said, “it’s not a racial issue, it’s a socioeconomic issue, and not the way you think. People are poor because of bad decision making. They lack the ability to plan ahead, they lack critical thinking, and they do not understand delayed gratification. The things that make them poor are the same reasons they get hurt more, they are more prone to risk taking behavior.”
