re: A Question as Old as Time: Grizzly Bear VS Silverback Gorilla Deathmatch - Who wins?

This isn't a matchup at all. The Grizzly would destroy it in seconds.
A Grizzly vs Gorilla is equivalent to Brock Lesner vs a Gorilla, where Brock is the gorilla, and the gorilla is the Grizzly. You'd have to be an idiot to not know who would win.

One aspect these questions always ignore is why are they fighting? It's not like they eat each other or fight for sport. Tell me who's go more to fight for, like one is defending their babies, and I'll tell you who wins, or rather who backs down first.
They both wander into each other with their kids. The winner & their kids eat the former's. Retreat is not an option.

I've always wondered how a rhinoceros would fare as well.
Serious? What animal is going to take down a rhino? I think even packs of lions struggle and often don't attempt to take down a healthy functioning rhino.

Grizzly bear and it's not even close. 10/10 the gorilla never even has a chance.

After reading your post several times. That makes perfect sense.

I bet the Romans knew the answer to this.

Maybe the gorilla could have a wolf or dolphin sidekick?

Animal death match would be the greatest show of all time. And I'm not talking about any of that animated bullshite they had on the animal planet a few years ago

A pack of lions wouldn't even approach a rhino. They go for the calves or the ones near death from old age.
A grizzly or polar bear would get absolutely wrecked by a rhino.

Since it is a total fantasy scenario and never would actually happen in real life it doesn't really matter. Assume both are "bloodlusted" and fighting at the height of their abilities.

Where are they fighting? On the open Savannah sure, the rhino needs room to build up speed. In the jungle I think the grizzly has the upper hand. In the arctic you have to give it to the polar bear due to the conditions alone.

Only chance the gorilla has is if it uses opposable thumbs for a choke hold.

That's what I was getting at.

It's simply a question of size and power. Rhinos weigh literally tons, like multi-thousands of pounds. All it takes is a stomp from a rhino to crush a bear's skull. A rhino would effortlessly fling around a bear. It would be like those videos of matadors getting flung around by bulls.

But rhinos have no grace. If surrounded by trees they'd get discombobulated easily and the grizzly could use this to his advantage.

None stand a chance against the GOAT land animal:
