Why tho?
She’s making a big deal over a tip that was obviously a mistake. Now she wants people to feel bad for her.
Find a better job, one that you aren’t depending on tips to support two people.

To put the whole thing post delivery. Not encourage someone to do a delivery with an advertised tip that then gets taken away.

Yeah, it what the customer did was shitty but when you are expecting money for nothing, you should also expect to get scammed. One word of advice for that personal shopper, avoid craigslist!

No changing of tip.
If the service is poor, report it and don't use the service again.

I'm curious about this. When we've used them, the receipt lists a service fee, a delivery fee and a tip already included before you even hit submit. I was told that the shopper gets the tip (of course) and one or the other of the other two fees. I wonder if that is incorrect. We tip above that but in cash when they deliver.

Read the quote I copied from the bottom of the article. Instacarts programmers should have to eat it IMO. Who writes that in the code?

She didn't get "scammed". It's obvious to anyone with the ability to think logically what happened. $55 is a somewhat random number to leave for a tip. The customer clearly meant to add a $5 tip, accidentally hit the "5" twice, realized his/her mistake and changed it.
Sure it stinks for the employee that thought she was getting a $55 tip, but rational people would realize that $55 is probably a mistake when $5 is a normal tip.
The only "baiting" going on here is by the worker, baiting bleeding heart bozos in to contributing her her forthcoming "Gofundme" drive.

Well she's not expecting money for nothing. She is providing a service. And she probably figured this person was trying to be generous during tough times.
All that said, obviously it was a mistake. And anal Lisa should realize it's something that can happen in her line of work.
The one question I have is if it was just a mistake, why did they give no tip at all? Why not just adjust it to the correct amount? Or is shy lying and the journalist didn't check her facts?

They were very clear in the article. They baited her in to be sure and get their groceries delivered. They offered $55 for this service, then changed it to $0 after they got their groceries.

Not sure about this situation but I’ve done this exact thing with Instacart the last few times I use it. I put the full tip amount to start and give them some cash when it’s delivered. Then I deduct the cash I gave from the tip. I still leave a few bucks just because. Last time I tipped $20 cash and left 5% on a little over $100 total. Normally I tip about 10%.
