“Celebrating” my 21st Northern Illinois winter. It’s not you that you have to worry about but other drivers. Here they are.

1. Toyota Prius driver. Will skid out and donut all over the high way. First to land in the ditch

2. Jeep 4x4 driver. Usually guy in 20’s who thinks he’s invincible. Goes full speed ahead….into the ditch. Often seen tires up

3. Over cautious lady driving 10mph in the left hand lane. Doesn’t getting accidents but sure causes them.

4. Pick up truck kid. See jeep 4x4.

You purposefully chose to live in that shite hole state?

Driving on snow isn't the issue, it's trying to stop in a hurry that gets people in trouble.

True story:

Winter of 1988 sitting in class in CEBA (Patrick Taylor) early one Friday afternoon when a wintry precip event was approaching. Professor was a young guy who was in his first year at LSU and had gotten his PhD at the Univ of Michigan.

A student worker knocks on door and interrupts class to announce that the Dean said classes were dismissed on account of approaching weather. The look on the profs face was priceless. We just laughed and told him, yeah we shut schools down when it snows - have you seen south LA drivers on good roads?

During my drive from campus to my apartment near Nicholson and Lee, I saw four wrecks that had just happened - and the sleet had just started.

I barely made it across the Sunshine Bridge (I-310 and Gramercy bridges did not exist at that time) before they shut it down.

I learned that fast. But driving too fast will get you in just as much trouble if not more. Especially when you get black ice under the slush.

Then you have the entrepreneur with a 2500 and a chain going around charging 40 bucks to pull people out of the ditch which is way cheaper than a tow truck

If anyone from Louisiana is celebrating freezing weather, it's a known fact they are a fat frick guaranteed, no questions asked. Everyone here should be climatized to the heat.

Yeah, nothing I like more than sitting in the deer stand or duck blind when it’s nice and warm.

The only guy I've ever. heard of that could handle black ice at speed was Dan Gurney ( per Pete Brock)

For the rest of us, that shite's a crapshoot
