There are maybe 3 great sandwich shops in new Orleans that don’t just serve po boys. Stein’s is one, T&W is one, and I’m leaving the 3rd spot open in case something comes to me that I am not recalling at the moment. I’m pretty sure you knew exactly what I was saying, but there it is for you, spelled out

I would go to Couchon Butcher 5 out of 5 days for lunch over the turkey and wolf guy. Better food, and Donald Link is a Sulphur baw originally. For variety maybe Stein’s for a pastrami sandwich. Too many good basic shrimp and roast beef poboy places around to eat some avant- guard poboy and act like it’s groundbreaking.

Much like music, I don’t care about a chef’s political view, even if he loud caps it on his website, as long as the food is good. His food isn’t that good. I’ll listen to Steve Earle over Toby Keith/Kenneth Chesney because his music is better, despite the political differences.

So this place is by default great due to your perceived lack of better options? Or are they great because you love his politics?

And of all the sandwhich shops in nola, T&W is easily the best one owned by a white guy named mason.

Did you have to show the correct papers when you walked in though?

Turkey and the Wolf is overrated as frick.

Used to go a lot with friends back in the day cuz they loved it, and their sandwiches/salads aren't that bad, they think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Average food, and an owner shoving political garbage down our throats? Even if I agreed with them, I still would never ever ever eat there again. That's stupid and terrible for business.

I'll go somewhere else for better food and service thanks.

Some extremely unintelligent people in this thread clearly. 7 dumb ones and counting.

Nothing really unique about any of these in comparison to T&W.

Martin wine cellar & La Boulangerie make better sandwiches than St James does. St James is just meh but I like the other ones.

What exactly is unique about turkey and the wolf?

They make deli meat sandwiches. Not much innovation there lol

I get that there are some unique combos of food, but almost every food truck or pop-up us doing that to some extent.

I think TatW is good food, but they don't offer anything that is better than many other spots, definitely don't put them in some higher category.
