How does one even go about abusing a snake?

Is it animal cruelty to kill a snake in my ditch?

Cruelty to an animal is a big problem.
Introducing an invasive species into our environment is also a big problem.
This jerk should face serious consequences for both offenses.

what about saving invasive species from out of a dumpster? that too sounds like a big problem.

how do you just take a creature you've been caring for and just toss it in a dumpster to starve?
what an a-hole, i dont care if it is an invasive species; you don't treat it that way.
Solid point. He shouldn't have thrown it in the dumpster but found a humane way to kill it. Like cut off its head.

Isn't the solution for invasive species to kill as many as possible?
I understand that most of us kill to live, but it should be done with skill and compassion.
In Florida that snake would be made into boots pretty quickly although they are not well suited for human consumption. But they should not tortured.

Ole boy apparently didn't need a nice fresh pair of boots

It's a snake. An invasive species and a nuisance.
Do you worry how the rats on the glue or stuck in the trap feel?
Take wild hogs.
I say machine gun them, blow them to bacon, kill em anyway you can.
Invasive species don't care how the native animals they displace suffer. You think that a python is going to care how the little puppy it eats suffers?
In nature you die starving or screaming

Anyone that is not a psychopath would choose to kill even the most invasive species quickly and efficiently. Hogs rats whatever. We use traps and such but most anyone would CHOOSE to do it quickly. This guy CHOSE to abandon an animal that he care for with full understanding that it would either starve or suffer in the elements until it died.
There is something wrong with that.

But I understand that in the scale of the problem, there may also be a need for imperfect mass production. A jerk tossing a snake into a dumpster where it can escape or die a painful death is am unacceptable method in my view.
What about yours?

People who buy pythons and release them months later need to get immediate jail time. Pythons breed like crazy and eat anything they see. It’s why so many wildlife species in Florida are at risk of going extinct.

Stomatitis, aka “mouth rot” - a bacterial infection fairly common in snakes.
Back in the ‘80s a friend of my dad caught a boa constrictor in New Orleans East. It had mouth rot. He gave it to us and we tried to take care of it but it died a week or two later. Likely a similar situation - a bad owner released it rather than treating it.

Personally, I don't think of pythons as pets. I just don't get it. You put it in an aquarium and every once in awhile give it some mice or whatever else they eat
Would you go on the same rant about a fish tank? A beautiful saltwater coral reef tank?
I’m not saying there aren’t better pets - I love my dog 100x more than any snake I’ve kept. But that doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy my snakes as pets too.
Snakes aren’t for everyone, and most people are afraid of them. But some people find them beautiful and fascinating as well. There doesn’t have to be just one type of pet to suit everyone.
I always found my setups more enjoyable to look at than a goldfish bowl…

This probably isn’t a comment for this thread, but I’ve always found it interesting that a certain segment of our society is heavily against ‘cruelty to animals’ but are more than okay with humans having abortions
How did they arrive at those conclusions
