Why does that threaten you so much? Not very secure in your masculinity?

I know of one guy who full on took his wife's last name (don't know any men that are hyphenated, but know women that are), and he is a Boomer. Full on frick boy too. He has a more powerful job than her too which made it a little weirder, he's a lawyer and she's a nurse practitioner. She came from a powerful big money family in the Philippines and that allegedly had at least something to do with it, but I'm not sure why that would matter since they live in the US.

It's common in Hispanic countries. It's done to carry on the lineage of the wife's family.

The only instance I could see this even possibly happening, if there were no males to carry on the last name and the family lineage would die.

Why?

This is standard operating procedure?

Me and ally siblings share our mother's maiden name as our middle name, which she used as her middle name once married.

My older sister now has her maiden name as her middle.

Studies show that guys who take their wife’s last name are more likely to enjoy anal stimulation

It's not common, but Gillette commercials must have gotten to him.

I know a couple that got married and created a new last name by blending the first syllable of his last name with her last name. Example: O'Connor (male) marries Davis so the last name would be O'Davis.

Is last name Cockweapon? If so I’d do the same, especially if my first name was Tommy or Johnny.

This is a good call. I could see the media starting a campaign asking "why do we take the man's last name"?

I've posted this before, but I work with a guy whose wife didn't take his last name.

They have 5 kids, and each kid has a first name, 3 middle names, and a last name, and the last middle name is the mother's maiden name.

So it's first name, random middle name, random second middle name, mothers maiden name and fathers last name.

FIFY.

I bet when you ask him about anything meaningful his answer always includes "let me ask my wife" or some variation of that within.
