Imagine the only thing in your marriage you value being your wife’s looks. Yikes

Why do people post this when the op is a pretty mundane situation millions experience? It's not like he said she gained too much weight, got scratched from her next mission to the moon and was kicked off the Cowboys cheerleader squad and she'll now only get work from Victoria's Secret.

I’m on the side you are a POS to leave a spouse over only weight.

But, that’s never the full story. As said people that change weight drastically due so for multiple lifestyle choices that likely changed. Stopped exercising, got lazy with meal choices, depression, etc.

Hard to say how accurate the OP is.

everyone can afford to take 30-60 minutes a day for self health

It sounds as if she needs to see a psychiatrist. 20-30 lbs is one thing, she has some unresolved trauma somewhere and is using the food as a coping mechanism

I guess I’m a shallow a-hole but that would be a deal breaker

Everyone gains a few lbs but 100 is ridiculous and doesn’t support the lifestyle I want to live and want our kids around

Being attracted to my wife is something I never take for granted. She looks basically the same as our wedding day 18 years ago. Sexual attraction is a big part of a relationship IMO

Paying for Ozempic is cheaper than child support. Depression is real. If that's truly the only reason he left, then he's a dick.

Exactly what my ex-wife (no pics) did. We split up and she lost about 75 pounds and looked like a skeleton.

Dude ought to have been more concerned about being owned by someone other than himself than the wife of his kids gaining weight but he sounds like a double barrelled douche bag so his being owned by someone else seems about right.

How can one be disowned? If you do not give a flying frick what someone thinks who cares and if you do that is on you, not them....

Your friend is a weak selfish pos. Millions of married men put with some serious shite daily for the sake of their family & children.

Did he explain to his kids that hes gone forever bc mom doesnt look the way he wants her to anymore? Jesus, i would hate my dad for the rest of my life.

That’s not what this is about.

To gain that much weight, involves a maladaptive behavior, trauma (emotion, verbal, or physical) that’s gone unresolved.

That’s why Dr. Now refers his patients who need gastric bypass for mental/behavioral health.

depends on how old her kids are

like I said SAHM with kids in daycare not a lot of excuses. Working mom with 2 younger kids? you’re either getting up really early, staying up really late or you’re partner is watching them while you run/work out etc…

but it’s good to see the usual retards out here “white knighting” for the dude leaving the mother of his children because she got fat

Something must be done about obesity in this country. The statistics are beyond alarming at this point. Maybe this will motivate her to lose weight?

This 100%. My wife and I will give the other time to exercise and the other will watch the kids for 45-60 minutes. Personal health is very important.

Based on this thread I’m assuming most people who would leave their wife if she Got fat would leave for a whole host of other reasons. It can certainly get a lot tougher than that in a marriage. Dementia, cancer, disability causing lack of mobility, etc

I mean law of averages at this point say a good chunk of the people in this thread that would leave their wife for gaining weight are also fatties themselves.

If they’re not holding that same energy for themselves then they’re pretty hypocritical.

Having kids does a number on our bodies and while some women can bounce back the majority can’t and it takes ALOT of work to get there.

Women used to have more kids than they do today. I don't remember seeing huge women in old pictures.

I watched my mother in law stay by her husband of 50 years side when he had lost the ability to tell what day it was, was mean and dangerous, couldn’t control his bowels, didn’t know who she was, and literally tried to eat a stick. She never waivered, she never lost patience, she simply continued the ACT of loving him. Love isn’t a feeling, it’s a conscience choice in how you act toward and treat another human being. I hope to be as strong and loving as she was if ever I am needed to do so.

Well your family isn’t disowning you, so maybe you’re a better partner than this guy in a lot of ways.
