A few days past a death anniversary: anybody remember Rebecca Schaeffer’s murder?

I saw something on this year’s ago. I was only 3 when it happened, so I obviously don’t remember this as it unfolded. A tragic story of a crazy, deranged fan who has an altered sense of reality and kills a young actress in front of her home. She was getting ready to audition for The Godfather III.

I’m honestly surprised this type of thing doesn’t happen more often. Not every celeb lives in some gated mansion with 24 hour security.

Most don’t. It seems like a weird existence.

Ironically, most of them preach open borders

Beautiful girl. We live around psychopaths and don't realize it most of the time unless something like this happens.

Murdered by a stalker douche that got her address from DMV.
DMV stopped that practice shortly after.

Considering the number of "celebrities" is probably 1000x what it used to be and they constantly communicate directly to followers, I am too

but then maybe the access that would seemingly make the threat larger also provides some outlet for the crazies to feel close/heard/etc. without showing up at their door

I stumbled down a Wikipedia rabbit hole about assassinations. Nowadays, most of the ones listed were rappers

Wasn’t he inspired by the U2 song “Exit?”

Would've been a better choice than Sofia Coppola.

Some of the worst acting ever. Ruined the movie for me.

I thought it was the other way around (song was inspired by the event). But you are correct - the killer argued in court that he was influenced by the song.

My friend in high school had a fascination with killers and he wrote letters to lots of famous serial killers. Her killer wrote back and -mind blown!- it got weird very quickly. I think his dad had to contact the warden or something.

I don’t think trump considers them his stupid supporters. Most seem to lean toward sane people.

A hand in his pocket
Fingering the steel,
The pistol weighed heavy
And his heart he could feel was beating, beating, beating
Beating oh my love
Oh my love
Oh my love

I remember this. She just lived in a normal apartment with regular folks all around her. The show was just becoming a hit and most thought she was on the verge of being the next big star. If I remember correctly dude just knocked her door, she answered it and he killed her.
