While you’re at it, ask her for some candid snaps from her last “symposium” and post them here.

TIA

There is quite a bit work going into regenerative medicine right now, and hearing is a major focus point. The idea is to turn the switches, and have the body regrow lost hair cells in the inner ear.

This doesn’t sound right to me, but I hear you and hope it rings true.

I definitely should have listened when they said to wear hearing protection....hunting and using lawn equipment. Especially dove hunting for me.

Yeah me too my hearing sucks but I am ok with it. It makes harder to hear my wife complaining.

I guess I should've mentioned that she's an audiologist

I have permanent hearing loss and tinnitus. It was utterly frustrating and terrifying for the first few months (I felt my whole life was going down the shitter)... a couple of years in I realized a couple of things:

A) conversation is NOT about listening: it's about knowing individuals better themselves, and anticipating and predicting what someone will say and do before they realize they need to share it with you.

B) most important and helpful communications are written; not spoken.

Thus, I consider my hearing state, not to be a disability, but a pain-in-the-arse specialized perception arrangement. However, if restoration is a real thing, I'm getting that shite with the quickness! Dueling guitar solos sounded a lot clearer when my hearing was complete.

Hopeful. I have serious tinnitus like screaming loud ringing. It suck to never have a quiet moment in life. At times it is worse than others but my baseline is pretty loud.

Too much shooting and rock and roll...

Kids wear that hearing protection.

I have tinnitus. I can ignore it mostly, but it is annoying at times when I get stuck focusing on it, it gets louder.

I’ve had it awhile.
To much shooting and rock and roll, I suppose.

I’m thinking about giving this a try. This is the text only link for one of those annoying infomercials

I wear hearing aids, AND I STILL CAN'T HEAR. But injecting something into my inner ear? Don't think so. I'll learn to read lips.

Yep. Young kids don't laugh this thread off. It only takes a second to screw your hearing up forever.

Always always use ear protection even if you think it means you won't get laid after the rave.

frick I’m 31 and I use plugs at concerts now. I got some nice ones off amazon. I took taurine based on suggestions here but it never helped.

I've always found the lack of concern for ones hearing amazing.

AT the same the inability to repair hearing seems odd.

Sign me up today.

Since June 24, 1969 — when at least a dozen Chi-Com grenades blew up within 5 to 20 feet of me in 10 minutes time — my world has been screeching. 51 years.

Only sleep brings relief. But when I awaken ...

All these new remedies always seem to fizzle. But I always hold out hope. Will again.

Tinnitus seems to be my proof that I survived and live on.
