There is quite a bit work going into regenerative medicine right now, and hearing is a major focus point. The idea is to turn the switches, and have the body regrow lost hair cells in the inner ear.

FX-322 is the closest to market. It's currently in Stage Two of clinical trials, and it's been awarded Breakout status by the FDA.

The drug is injected in a gel form, into the middle ear, where it is then absorbed by the inner ear.

Nice. I definitely should have listened when they said to wear hearing protection....hunting and using lawn equipment. Especially dove hunting for me.

You trying to help bump the stock price up to recover some losses? This is from October of last year and stock has dropped from $27.55 to $16.00 over the last 20 days.

My left just started ringing out of the blue yesterday and is still ringing. I assume I’m fricked.

It can subside over time. That's true for many people.

One of these will work, and make it to market, in the next few years.

The Hough Ear Institute has a drug in development that designed to spur regrowth of the neurons at the base of the hair cells. Their theory is that tinnitus is caused by the death of these cells. These neurons are also more sensitive to stress than the hair cells, so the neurons may die, while the hair survives.

They believe it will relieve, if not cure tinnitus, while also improving hearing.

They also have a competitor to FX-322 although it’s further out.

I sure hope this is real. But I doubt it.

I might as well try. That way, in 20 years, my then deaf arse will be entitled to some compensation when the class action gets filed.

That would be awesome. My ears have been ringing for years. Hasn't gotten worse that I can notice, but it certainly isn't any better.

Careful on counting chickens before they hatch, Orrin.

I didn’t exactly retire after my Opti-Grab settlement arrived.

It is only a matter of time. It appears they’ve figured out the basic methodology. And now you have several companies competing to make it a reality.

Mine was so bad, I had them go back in and snip my left ear auditory nerve. Granted, it was post acoustic neuroma resection but we were trying to preserve hearing.

My right ear has been ringing since July 2nd, 1974.

Girl down the street wanted attention when her big brother and his friends were shooting fireworks and I was hanging around the older guys. I was 10, girls were not a big deal yet.

She tossed a Black Cat from behind me that landed on my right shoulder, and having had a horsefly recently pester me, I thought it was back and shrugged and tilted my head to either catch it or shoo it away. Firecracker left a rounded burn on the side of my neck big as my grown up thumb. Right ear has been ringing ever since with significant hearing loss.

Just asked my wife about this, and she mentioned that the hair cells have grown back, but they aren't firing synapses. Doubts it'll be as soon as "the next few years".
