There are much better places to live in the Bay area.

It's probably a proximity buy, especially since it's a condo, The buyer may want to be close to Stanford, or any of the big tech companies there.

Right arm longer than left arm.
PITA buying dress shirts.

Palo Alto homes, like many in that area are selling for big $$$$, but I'd be in Alameda.

Florida leads the way (most years) by a wide margin of home purchased by foreign investors. In 2024-2025 Florida had 21% of homes bought by foreigners followed by Cali at 15%, and Texas at 10%. Those three states accounted for 46% of all home purchased by foreign investors in the USA that year.
In Florida’s case you’d be surprised how much of this is Canadian and Brazilian investors. These are not the typical dog and cat eating immigrants imagined by MAGA they are wealthy investors often with dual citizenships.

I'm not a fan of Palo Alto. Its a mix of 60s and 70s style houses and generic new apartment complexes. Too much traffic as well

When we were looking at second home/place to invest in real estate 15 years ago Palo Alto was a place we visited. We wanted a mild summer, college town, nice downtown, nearby airport, and etc.
We loved Palo Alto but the price point was nearly impossible. Even Madison, WI, and Boulder, CO are way cheaper.
In many way I think Palo Alto is more expensive than NYC and Aspen.

That's what I said about Bitcoin at $1000. Except for the real estate and liberals part.

Palo Alto has some of the best weather in the world. I spent four years at Moffett Field. The entire area is wonderful.

There are quite a few issues that are driving up housing costs for proper American citizens.

Everything is relative. If you take a job with a company there, the pay will reflect the COL. same as if you were in Lawrence, KS. But I agree with you on the other points. But nothing will ever change concerning those last two points you made.

The reason it is so expensive is that it is in high demand. “No one goes there any more. It’s too crowded.”

Yeah, I was j/k. My right arm is almost an 1" longer than my left, hence the dress shirt commrnt.

I figured yours was longer from lobbing TF outta those grenades.

Unless it was rural area of California, there is nothing about California that would make me want to go there
