Maybe do not build a million dollar house next to multiple areas zoned commercial and next to an interstate?
Or prone to storm surge....

200-300 yds from residential is pretty close. If you give me 3 swings I could land a golfball there. 24hrs a day of lights, noise, traffic, crotch rockets racing, loud cars, etc. All very enticing for the average resident in the immediate area.
That exit is already a traffic disaster at any given time during the day.
Jobs and revenue sound great. But as with anything in Louisiana the politicians will eat well while education improvements and promised recreation improvements will never happen.

I'm assuming this place will have concerts.
Not saying Slidell is a bad spot, but that probably doesn't belong next to residential.
I'm sure there are other places near the freeway with water views that they can use. Then again, if the people in the neighborhood aren't fighting it....then let it ride.

Maybe this will be enough to finally get stop lights installed.

You can get robbed and then the robbers can hop on the highway back into NOLA east.

One would hope that the approval of this would require them to put in some traffic lights or roundabouts. That intersection is the fricking wild west.

It's a little further than that..more like 500-600 yards

Well stated. Regarding revenue, they won't get anywhere near the revenue numbers being projected as they're making a huge assumption that is incorrect. They assume that the people heading to the Gulf Coast will now gamble in Slidell. The Gulf Coast is weekend vacation and there's far more to do there including the beaches. I don't see too many folks hanging around Slidell for the weekend.

That canal is only 425ft wide to the peninsula with 6-8 houses on it.

Isnt there a pretty nice golf course nearby? The fishing? Gambling? There's a nice performing arts theater right down the street...I can see some people making a weekend out of it

425 yrds from the center of the lot to the cul de sac

I'm not sure why you keep trying to dispute facts. Why are you measuring from the center of the lot to the cul de sac? The casino property could be as close as 500' to that persons back yard. If you don't think a 250 room casino hotel, that close to someone's property with absolutely nothing in between the two would be a problem for those homeowners, then you are truly hopeless.

They shuttered that casino because it couldn't compete against the other casinos.

The article said the casino would be land based.

I thought they were moving the boat from Bossier? Maybe I misunderstood

Got it....

Also, he said, the casino would be on land — not a gambling boat.
"Times change, no matter what the issue is," Lorino said. "Maybe years ago this project would have had an issue."
DiamondJacks in Bossier has been closed since last year. While it is one of the 15 state riverboat casino licenses, a 2018 change in state law now allows the gambling operations to happen on land instead of restricting them to water.

Not Sidney. His cousins do have a place. Sidney's uncle helped to develop the whole of Lakeshore Estates. It's built well. The land is actually high on those Islands. There was minimal flooding there during Katrina. Robert Torres built it.
