Thankfully the guy was stopped and we didn’t see anymore loss of life.
But it really doesn't seem like he was, if you watch the report at the link.
Sounds like he made it into the store and walked around pushing a buggy while everyone was scrambling. Then the fireman stopped him on the way out.
Not sure what the man's intent was, but sounds as though he had ample opportunity to open fire inside the store with customers inside.
Probably some dumbass stunt, a trial run, or he thankfully talked himself out of going through with it once on site.
My question is the Walmart manager's pulling the fire alarm to evacuate. I guess this is a good tactic if you see a gunman inside, but sending people flooding outside could be bad if there is a gunman there.

Nope make an example out of him. Sorry even if he was messing around send him to jail for life.
Thankfully, you’ll never be in a position of power.

Probably some right to open carry dude
They will probably go after him for the usual bull shite inciting terror/riot type laws
Firefighter basically held this dude hostage, civilians shouldn't pull guns unless they are ready to shoot.
Next time I'm sure he will wait until a few people are killed before jumping into action.
WTF is wrong with you people, the dude wasn't walking around with a handgun he had multiple guns, body armor and bullets on him. You can use common sense without taking away rights. The kid had 0 common sense, so he got we deserved.
I am hardcore conservative, but man after reading this thread [which seemed like it would be a giant jerk off fest for gun people] that you all will never be happy.

You literally take away someone’s rights when you kidnap them at gunpoint.

Congrats on owning an assault rifle pal you are so fricking cool
I think most men would probably like to own an AR or AK.
Being able to send 30 rounds of relatively low-recoil, accurate fire downrange without working a bolt or reloading is a very safe, convenient way to work on marksmanship.
People who talk smack about these kinds of guns or their owners generally have wives who won't allow them to own their own example, in my experience.

I didn’t say I agree with what the moron was doing, I’m just saying this instance sounds like one of those right to carry activists. There is nothing good that come from these. They end up doing more harm than good.
I do think he broke no laws and if they find out that is what he was doing, he needs to be released.

There is an assault rifle version of the AK-47. But you can’t just go to the gun store and buy it. The assault rifle version of the AR-15 is the M16 and M4. You can’t buy those either unless you have a federal permit.

I don't give a shite if the fireman technically committed a crime here and the kid didn't. The kid is the fricking dumbass in this situation here

Let’s say you’re in Walmart today with your wife and kids. You round the corner and see a 20 year old dude in full body armor carrying an AR-15 with multiple magazines. You just gonna ignore him?

Don't bring common sense into this. He isn't breaking any laws.

Call me crazy, but I’m not going to give him the chance to break any laws, especially if my family is in the store.

That's all true, but the guy I responded to is one of those people who has no inkling of the history or meaning of "assault rifle," "assault weapon," etc.
Correcting the vocabulary of gun control advocates will never win this debate. Talking about the real reasons people might want a 30-round magazine or a semi-auto action might actually win some points, so that's what I did.

Missouri is an open carry state. Pretty sure that off duty fireman just kidnapped that guy.

The issue is with being able to open carry a gun larger than a pistol. The panic and issues created by it as a result of the shootings should have states looking at their open carry laws.

He's actually lucky he is still alive. If I were to go to Kroger in full body armor with multiple guns on me, I would realize there is a good chance someone might shoot me regardless of what my intentions were

After 9/11... If there was a Middle eastern muslim looking man walking around with a bomb.. He is just walking around with it, never set it off.. Just walking around NYC with this bomb that all he had to do was connect and set off.. What would have happened to him?

People that open carry semi automatic rifles with bullet proof vests are doing no favors for pro 2A folks. It makes us look like idiots trying to defend them.
here’s the funny thing. Pro 2A guys like to mock the left’s stance of “common sense gun laws”. The 2A response is, “what is a common sense gun law”.
The irony is that the overzealous 2A guys (such as the guy in this story) clearly lack any type of common sense.
