Highly doubt these guys are actually working the hours that they claim to be

The DWI task force is not too far separated from the Gestapo. They pull people over left and right all night, even if they aren't doing anything wrong, and bring them to jail. They are relentless and will pull people over until they get one dumb enough to fail the FST. I have seen it first hand that they get very excited and praised after bagging their prey. They have competitions on who can get the most arrests each night. They also become extremely angry when they waste time finding out that the guy who just "horribly failed the FST and wreaks of alcohol" blows a 0.00 on the breathalyzer. It is ridiculous how they conduct business, abuse power, and THESE are the guys who will lie on police reports 90% of the time.
Cops also get paid extra for sleeping in their cars in the parking lots of bars and restaurants after they extort money from them. I wouldn't be surprised if these DWI guys were pulling in $250k a year

I've experienced it first hand. I did blow a .02 but the he treated me as if I had fricked his wife. I was one block from my house and he was running a de facto checkpoint, pulling over every car that came down the street..

Had my buddy drive me home one night from the bar. He was sick and didn't drink anything that night. After taking him because he "failed" all of the tests, they gave me one (I was shite faced) and said I was good to drive home.
After about an hour, the cop called me and told me to come pick my buddy up. I laughed and told him I was not that stupid, and he got pissed. While I was laughing, I told him that I was drunk as hell when he told me to leave and that he grabbed the wrong guy. At that point, he drove my buddy home, locked up the brakes in front of my house and started yelling at me about being disrespectful, and peeled out and floored it down my street.
Stout, look at RAM mounts. Fully customizable and very solid

Why would you care that much about people that want to work. If they want to put the time in make more money, so what.

The guy claims to have worked enough overtime that he had to work 13 hours a day 7 days per week for an entire year. Its called payroll fraud and would likely be grounds for throwing out every successful DWI case he was on if he gets caught.
Not to mention the morons in govt. tie retirement pay to earnings including overtime with no cap not base pay or base pay plus overtime up to a percentage of salary meaning an employee can game the system to double or triple their retirement benefits by padding their overtime for 3 years. This creates a huge additional liability that was never budgeted for.
The system is stupid, but anyone who thinks this guy isn't a crook who is stealing from taxpayers is a fool. There is no way in hell he is really working that much.

DR thread but Ram brand mounts are solid. Have a couple for go pros and they make a laptop car mount.

and just when I thought y'all liked hearing my side of the story. Well to heck with you
I'm going back to my solitaire...if only this rookie could drive.
DUI guys have to work all the dang time, court, holidays, special events, etc. They have no life at all, but this still seems extreme.

According to comment from Nola article, he also has time to run his own full service catering business. He apparently spends his other 11 hours a day there. Located out of the fraternal order of police reception hall.

Wow. That is utterly amazing time management. I guess he never sleeps.
You know state and local "ethics" boards DGAF, but surely, there's some payroll fraud/misappropriation of federal dollars going on here.

You do know this is from September, right?
And these guys work on a federal grant.

Just because he got paid overtime doesn't mean he actually worked over 40 hours that week. If he gets called out, that's automatic at least two hours overtime. I'm sure they probably get paid at least two hours OT per court appearance. You also have to factor in that they have 16 paid holidays which I am assuming they all try and work over 12 hours those days. I am also assuming that ALL work with the DWI task force is considered OT, whether they worked 40 hours that week or not.
Hell, I'm getting paid OT right now and last night and I am no where near 40 hours straight time this week.

The Feds pay you OT to protect and serve the OT. Nice.

I work nearly 12 hours a day and I hold up just fine.

I bet that I actually "worked" more hours than these cops in a year back when I was working for Turner in chemical plants. 7-12s for months at a time with no days off in between. No vacation, holiday pay, or sick leave.

Yeah but they have to work all they way until around age 52 in order to retire with guaranteed full pay + COL increases for the rest of their lives. I bet Turner workers get to.. wait never mind.

Actually officers don't get OT until they work 86 hours in a pay period. We may work 50 hours in one week and 40 the next and we only get 4 hours of OT.

Yeah but how often did you get to lie on reports, shoot dogs, infringe on people's rights because you were picked on in HS??!!!
