How excessive is this? Wtf was their supervisor doing the entire year?

Also, if they're really working 13 hrs/day how can their bodies hold up?

This is common for most police forces. It's a major issue in my opinion. These men and women work these hours under stressful conditions and I make double what they make serving chicken wings.

Happens everywhere and is ridiculous. Should be a no overtime policy except in extenuating circumstances.

It's part of why govt's go broke and have to raise taxes all the time. Mismanagement.

Yea they're around $200-$300. I haven't bought one yet because I'm about to buy a new truck but I will get one for it.

jerseytiger used to post about this re: NYPD

there is supposedly a huge waiting line for people to become cops, but they can't get in so that the rank and file can get OT

this trend is popular with most unions, iirc

Not sure about BR but in NOLA there is no where near the number of officers they need on the department, I would say that is an extenuating circumstance.

Usually OT worked at a business is paid directly by the business so there's no cost to the City/Parish. Ask any City Cop about it.

Had a great conversation about this subject with a local attorney and a State Trooper with friends in LE locally. Was outraged at first but walked away with a different point of view once I heard the whole story.
