TL;DR old flight attendant fired for stealing milk

quote:

Flight attendant, 79, employed by Delta since 1962, is suing the airline after she was fired over a missing carton of milk as she claims she is the victim of an ageist smear campaign by colleagues envious of her salary and perks Ida Gomez Llanos claims she was ‘harassed’ and ‘bullied’ by Delta colleagues. encouraged by managers who wanted to replace her with cheaper, younger staff

After receiving annual pay rises over her 57-year career, Llanos was earning around $250,000 when she was fired - more than four times the average flight attendant salary of $56,000

The 79-year-old told DailyMailTV she rose to become the Number One flight attendant in LA and rank fifth in the country

‘They accused me of sleeping, of taking chocolates, not doing a good job – but my letters from passengers proved that wrong,’ Llanos said

‘They accused me of not being able to arm or disarm the doors. But we all go through training every year, and we have to pass that training or we do not fly'

Since you are going to ask ...

Flight attendants, like pilots, have a sweet gig. Been following a couple of flight attendants on youtube, they don't make a ton the first year, but get annual bumps, lots of opportunity for OT and can make a lot of money in just a few years time.

People write a letter to the company about the flight attendant.

If you can't fulfill the responsibilities of your job due to age, then you should be able to be terminated.

I have no doubt Delta is "find a reason" to let her go, but I don't blame them.

Another selfish baby boomer. What a surprise.

Oh. And I know she is 5 years outside the generally accepted years.

With her seniority, she probably works 2-3 turns max, weekly out of LAX.

She ain’t making 250k for that.

I don’t understand why people don’t read the articles here.

She clearly states that she believed jealousy by co workers for her seniority was an issue. Seniority for OT.

And what may be the most boomer thing:

“Llanos said that she has carried on working long after the usual retirement age as she is still struggling to finally pay off her mortgage and complete repairs to her house.”

79 and her mortgage ain’t paid off. This smells fishy.
